Brief

Kevin is from Australia yet has spent the past decade or so teaching the British National Curriculum (7 1/2 years in the State of Qatar in 2 British-international schools and around 1 1/2 years in Manchester, England) in 2 countries.

His professional teaching experience spans a) mainstream primary and primary special educational needs b) primary and secondary Autism Spectrum Disorders including Asperger’s Syndrome and c) substantial private tuition - Reception to Year Six, English and Mathematics. Kevin was Proprietor of his own private tutoring family business in Sydney for over a decade.

Children and parents find Kevin patient, understanding and knowledgeable. Teaching (Education) is Kevin’s third career, but it is the profession he has been in the longest (graduated as a primary school teacher in 1990 in Sydney).

BACKGROUND
Extended

Kevin was born in Eastern Australia. In 1978, he enlisted in the Australian Regular Army (Signals Intelligence). In the 1980’s in Sydney, he commenced intensive and extensive graduate studies in Theology and Philosophy for 3-4 years, then Education (Teaching) for a further 4 years which led on to pursuing post-graduate studies in Education, in children’s learning/motivation at Sydney University in 1993. In 1996 after teaching in South Korea, Kevin co-founded/established Hiscutt Tutoring and co-authored/self-published/marketed, the 4-week children’s program, ‘Speed It Up Multiplication Tables Booklet’. Hiscutt Tutoring was a Founding Member of the Australian Tutoring Association. In Sydney, Kevin taught in private, independent, catholic, religious and state/governmental schools. Kevin then taught children and youth with Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome for 7 1/2 years with the charitable educational organization, Autism Spectrum Australia in Sydney. He completed post-graduate studies in Inclusive Education in Autism at Canberra University during this time. From 2009 for a further 7 1/2 years, Kevin taught special educational needs students in two British-international schools in the State of Qatar. From the State of Qatar, Kevin emigrated to Manchester in England. He recently became a Founding Member of the UK Chartered College of Teachers.

In Sydney, Kevin trademarked the business motto, ‘You Can Achieve’ based on his post-graduate studies in educational psychology. His personal motto is ‘Conquer Yourself’ from Alexander the Great.

As recreational pursuits, Kevin has parachuted in Queensland Australia, climbed Africa’s highest mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, driven across the Sahara Desert in Algeria in a 4-wheel-drive truck, and sailed down the Nile River in Egypt in a traditional Felucca sailboat.

Whilst living in the Middle East, Kevin drove overland with his Family in their American-made, GM Hummer many times, to a popular region in the State of Qatar, called The Inland Sea. This windswept area borders Saudi Arabia, has steep, sweeping sand dunes, and magnificent coastal views of the Persian Gulf. In a separate trip, Kevin and his Family drove out of the State of Qatar, through the Saudi Arabian deserts into UAE, then holidayed further afield, in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.

His personal interests include currently preparing a 50,000-word written work, to be scripted by a playwright and/or dramaturge for a theatre, stage production.

Kevin has also written articles about life in the Middle East and another account of a trip he made to Kerala in India.
