About Katy
Hi there! Thanks for checking in on my profile.
I'm Katy and I currently study Economics at UCL. I am interested in tutoring in any of the subjects on my profile, each of which I attained high grades for during my time in education (for example, I achieved 100% in my Maths GCSE).
I am very talkative, enthusiastic and patient and I would love to be able to use tutoring to give help to students who would benefit from 1on1 study sessions. It is important to me to know that the sessions are beneficial and I value seeing progress even from an early stage.
I think it is important to make learning interesting and whilst going through the necessary material, I will strive to help uncover what is exciting about a subject to make learning more enjoyable.
The key to being a good tutor is being able to listen carefully to the student in order to determine problem areas and focus points for each session, as sessions will be wasted if they are simply repetitions of information that is already understood.
From my academic experience, I know the value of practising material and therefore I usually will set work to be done by the next session that I will expect to be completed.
I have previous tutoring experience as in years 11 and 12, I tutored lower school pupils in Maths and Latin and was able to see the students excel and gain confidence after just a few sessions. I also founded and ran a Young Model United Nations club at my school, in which I taught lower school pupils how to debate pressing world issues effectively.

Katy is an incredibly passionate and hard working student who has had several years experience of tutoring. Having worked with her as a fellow tutor I've been able to see first hand the compassion and drive she shows towards her students in both teaching and getting them to perform their best. Her teaching style is both interesting and enriching, and her students always have positive feedback that is reflected in their results.
Katy was a tutor for my son for 6 months prior to him taking his GCSEs and was excellent. My son struggled with Latin and I decided that he would benefit from private tutoring so that someone could go through everything he learns at school and his homework with him.
A mutual friend recommended Katy to our family and as soon as she began tutoring our son, we saw improvements in his grades and a few months later during parents evening, his Latin teacher spoke of his recent improvement.
Katy was great with our son and they got on well so he enjoyed the sessions; she was very flexible with timings and really listened to him so each session was tailored to what he wanted to go through.
