I've been teaching EFL for just over eight years. I gained a CELTA and latterly the International House Business English Ceritficate in Spain and worked there in language schools and businesses in Seville and Madrid.
Returning to London, I have been extremely busy working with the international community here across numbers nationalities, tutoring in general English and IELTS preparation.
Four years ago, I started working with the Pronunciation Studio who trained me in phonemics and accent reduction. Since then I have worked with business clients in blue chip companies to help them communicate more clearly and confidently to their clients and colleagues.
IELTS preparation is a speciality of mine. It's an extremely complex exam and even those most competent in the English language can struggle with the many aspects required. Also, what used to be the standard requirement of around 6.5 has crept up over the last few years to 7 or even 7.5 as the top universities increasingly demand excellence from their applicants. Preparation is absolutely vital and I have achieved excellent results from those prepared to work hard.
I love teaching and having been a foreign student and resident myself in Spain, I really understand how hard it can be to integrate into a new city so a huge part of my job involves assisting students to feel at home in London be it through understanding the history and culture of the city to the more practical elements of settling in.
