About Kasparas
I have been tutoring and mentoring for almost a decade now. That includes hundreds of hours of one-to one teaching both for schools and university admissions, as well as full classrooms and laboratories. I strive for efficiency as well as proficiency, which usually involves touching up fundamentals of both the subject I am teaching as well as the general learning skills. The latter are crucial in the long run of one's academic as well as professional future and I usually like to at least touch base on that with whomever I am teaching.
While always dedicated to teaching which I consider both a hobby and a privilege, I spend my professional time in research. I just spent half a year working at the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) in Nepal working on water security and interdisciplinary approach to landscape work.
I am passionate about education, environment and scientific literacy which connects the two issues. That is why I am also trying out a path of a science communicator as an advocate for education and environmentalism to the governing bodies in my home country Lithuania and outside.

To whom it may concern,
I’m most happy to write a recommendation letter for Kasparas (Casper) Vasiliauskas. I have known him for more than one year, but the most intensive interaction with him was in Summer 2018 while I was attending the summer school at Cambridge University as a student and Casper served as my group’s supervisor. The primary duty of Casper is to oversee and help with our study during the summer school and especially, to assist us with our final presentation.
Casper is a very helpful and thoughtful person. During the summer session, he gave me the strength that I needed to take the next steps. Because I was not confident in myself, and when thinking about doing public speaking, I would feel nervous. But Casper not only gave me advices on how to improve my public speaking skills, but also gave me tips how to overcome my inner nervousness and show my confidence to audience. And as the supervisor of my group, he also gave us academic suggestions, like how to make a questionnaire and how to use data to analyze a topic. Thanks to his supervision, two members of my group, including myself, won the scholarship in this program.
Casper is not only my supervisor but also my friends. We have been keeping in touch after the summer school. And most recently he helped me with my admission interview to master programs. Thanks to his help, I got the offer from my desired university.
Given the aforementioned information, I’m confident that, Casper will be successful in being a helpful tutor for others.
Please feel free to contact me at 646-610-3522 if I may provide any additional information.

Very truly yours,
Yue ChenEven though I have known Kasparas for only a year, I am sure he is an exceptional teacher. He was my Geology tutor and helped me prepare for The International Earth Science Olympiad where I participated and won a medal. I highly recommend Kasparas for every student looking for a tutor who not only possesses extensive academic knowledge of many subjects, but is also helpful, encouraging and knows how to pass information onto others.
To begin with, Kasparas has studied a lot of subjects himself so he can help his students master various topics. He stays up-to-date with the newest scientific findings to provide his students the most accurate information available. Kasparas includes different teaching techniques into his lessons depending on the subject and the student's preferred way of learning: apart from the theory, he thinks of various exercises, ranging from calculations to essay writing, to ensure the student understands the topic completely and has analysed it from different approaches. I can assure you, the exercises he picks for his students help them memorize the most important aspects of the subject and teach them critical thinking, too. Kasparas also provides sources to find even further information on the topic if the student is interested.
Apart from his teaching abilities, Kasparas also has excellent interpersonal skills. He is witty so learning with him is never boring. Kasparas simply has a way with people which is why he might seem more like a friend rather than a teacher. If a student lacks motivation to study or is doubting his/her abilities, Kasparas will do his absolute best to encourage them to continue their work and achieve great results.
Having this said, I think Kasparas is an excellent Science teacher. His communication skills allow him to easily bond with his students while his knowledge and creativity help them achieve their academic goals.Kasparas helped me pro bono for my Cambridge interviews back in 2016/2017. He was an incredibly patient teacher and was really good at explaining complicated concepts to me. He was always well prepared and I enjoyed my time as his student.
I have been friends with Kasparas Vasiliauskas for 10 years, ever since we were classmates at high school. I have always admired his ability to listen and to ask the right questions to inquire into a person’s core of understanding. Kasparas was excellent in every subject at school, and he was always kind to mentor his classmates and younger students. He was also mentoring students applying to prestigious universities in the UK.
Kasparas has tutored my two younger sisters: one to help with preparation for the state level exams, and other to deepen theoretical understanding of material covered at school. He has taught my sisters a wide variety of subjects, including Lithuanian literature, English, Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Biology, and I have heard only positive feedback from both of them. Kasparas starts teaching any topic from the fundamentals, which, when understood, makes a student understand the topic to an extent to be able to answer any related question, regardless of whether the student has seen a similar question before. Further, Kasparas connects every topic to other disciplines, and I have heard that under the tutorship of Kasparas, the core knowledge learnt by my sister in Chemistry transferred well to other subjects such as Physics, Maths and Biology. Finally, Kasparas encourages independent thinking. He never gives answers freely, but instead gives hints and examples for a student to make the connection themselves. This teaches important reasoning skills and definitely boosts confidence.
All in all, I highly recommend Kasparas Vasiliauskas as a tutor, as I strongly believe that under his guidance, any student can excel at any subject, as well as gain skills such as reasoning, time management and others that would be valuable for life.View more recommendations
