About Karishma
I have recently graduated from a master's in English at Cambridge University and have ample experience in teaching: 4 years as a private tutor in English Literature/Language A-levels and GCSE, a year teaching English to teenage refugees and, most recently, two months teaching students in preparation for their ICS exams at a school in India.
Teaching affords me the opportunity to share literature with the compelling quality it deserves, engendering lifelong appreciation for it in my tutees. A particularly memorable moment was showing a student David Tenant's rendition of the "To be or not to be" soliloquy in 'Hamlet' (he ignited her interest in Shakespeare!)
As well as making lessons engaging, I take care to teach with patience and will create a comfortable environment. It is important to me that even my most introverted students are able to voice their ideas and engage in discussion. I do understand the mechanics of the syllabus but will take a student far beyond it, in both literary appreciation and writing ability. Do get in touch if you have any queries.

Perfect! Amazing and friendly tutor! Highly recommend!
I'm using my mum's account to write this review. I booked Karishma about 3-4 weeks before my exams and have only had 5 lessons with her. These 5 lessons have changed my grade dramatically. I went from a C/D to a grade B as my English Literature AS result. Karishma is super friendly and is always willing to help I'm so glad I booked Karishma before my exams, if you're thinking of booking her then you won't be disappointed. I highly recommend Karishma!

Karishma is a vibrant and organised individual. With a firm knowledge base and a keen eye for written stylistics and grammatical cogency, I cannot think of a better tutor for help with humanities subjects where a high degree of written communication is required. Supportive, sincere, and patient are all words I would not hesitate to ascribe to Karishma. As soon as I met Karishma her love for her subject was apparent, few other tutors can instil such a level of excitement and enthusiasm for the subject. This, combined with a firm grounding in the curriculum would prepare anyone for their exams. Would highly recommend!
Karishma inspires confidence in one's writing which very few others are capable of achieving. Her passion is clear from the outset and is able to enthuse even the most obstinate of students. But, what I found to be Karishma's best quality is that she patiently helps you to think beyond the curriculum, to refine your writing and ideas which will get you the highest marks in whatever exams you are taking. Someone who will help you not only pass exams, but will give you a love for the subject.
