About Justin
I am a qualified specialist teacher in dyslexia with thousands of hours experience preparing children for exams.
I am passionate about my students overcoming their limitations and reaching their full potential. I have a creative approach to learning and believe that students perform best when they are comfortable and feel free to make mistakes. I have been teaching for over 20 years and I am also a director of an educational company, designing courses of study in the Far East.
I specialise in tutoring students for GCSE, Common Entrance and Public School entrance examinations. My students have gained places at many of London's top schools including Westminster, St Pauls, Harrow and Latymer.
My lessons are often described as a balance between 'humour and hard work'. My approach is collaborative, rather than imposed; I guide children to make their own discoveries as I feel this engenders greater autonomy and self-confidence.
I am experienced at teaching most GCSE exam boards including IGCSE. My students range from 6-16 years of age and my interest lies in creating a rapport with each pupil in order to build trust and find out what engages and motivates them. I currently teach at a specialist school for dyslexic and dyspraxic students. Prior to this I taught English, French and Theatre to students at the Complete Works Independent School for over 5 years. Many of the students at TCW have behavioural, emotional and learning difficulties, including dyslexia, dyspraxia and autism. Working with this huge cross section of needs has given me the experience to quickly ascertain why children are underperforming and to identify what can be done to rectify this. During my time at TCW my results were outstanding - the best the school had achieved to date.
I speak fluent French and was awarded a scholarship to study at Ecole Florent, Paris (France's most prestigious drama school), and I have worked professionally in theatre and television. I was a senior English tutor at Linguarama (one of the world-leading language training companies ) for 6 years, where I was responsible for designing programmes of study specifically tailored to students' needs.
I have an enduring love for theatre, film, literature and language. I have toured the UK and Europe performing theatre in both English and French.
I have practised meditation and mindfulness for many years and often use these techniques with students in order to alleviate exam stress and to focus them during lessons.
If you feel I could be of help to your child, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
I look forward to meeting you.
Warm regards
Justin

Justin is easy to get along, he is enthralling and passionate when it comes to teaching. Before Justin began tutoring me I was predicted a grade 4 in both English lit and Lang at GCSE. But with his undivided attention and vitality, in less than a year, I went on to achieve grade 8 in my English GCSEs, helping me to attaine a place at one of the UK's top schools.
To whom it May Concern,
Justin has been invaluable to our son Felix.
He's inspired him to work hard, and to learn the tools to move on with his learning, despite being dyslexic.
I can proudly say that Felix is now on top of his class, in a competitive london day school.
I think you will struggle to find a tutor more qualified, warm and relatable tutor.
Kind Regards,
Mrs AuldJustin is an absolute brilliant CE English tutor. He taught my son for 10 months (by Skype and in person) and we were delighted when he got a B grade in his final exam. Justin is passionate about teaching and his lessons are fun and interesting. He always prepares his lessons beforehand and my son looks forward to the next lesson. He finds ways to keep him focused (if his attention is wavering) and has even done relaxation exercises with him to help him when he was anxious before his exams. Can't recommend Justin enough! We were so pleased that he now also teaches my daughter.
Justin is a wonderful English teacher. His ability to listen with generosity, has made our teenagers feel safe and at ease to explore the world of self-expression during an emotionally complex time in their lives. He engages critical thinking and analysis through his own passion for language and story telling. He relates the study material through games, tasks and conversations that are relevant to their lives today. As a parent you pray your children will find those key teachers that will inspire them to do well, not because they have to but because they have found their own passion for the subject.
It's been an absolute privilege having Justin as my son's tutor! From the very first session he was very professional, knowledgeable and very easy to talk to. Justin has a great bank of teaching techniques. My son has absolutely loved being thought by Justin! The challenges brought by dyslexia (and sadly failure to a certain extend by the educational system) made my son's learning and English GCSE preparation very, very difficult. My son has now gained knowledge and confidence - to me, his parent, that's priceless!!
We are massively grateful for Justin's time and endless effort. He's a person of integrity. I give Justin my highest recommendationJustin gave our daughter the confidence to do the 7+ tests. She really enjoyed her sessions with him. He saw the areas where she needed some help and inspired her to try without her her feeling any pressure. He is a fun and energetic tutor - and I would recommend to anyone else wanting to help their child do 7+.
Justin has been coming to us for over a year now to boost Nicholas' comprehension, writing, orderly sentence formation and English generally. We think he has managed to engage him well, bring the homework to life, and develop a liking for the subject. Justin has also provided exam practice and given us extremely valuable advice on the more appropriate schools we should look at for 11+.
I was an OK English student until I started working with Justin because he gave me confidence and I ended up with an A* and am studying it for my A-levels! He made the lessons fun and interesting and on top of that, he's such a nice person
Justin has been teaching French to my son, who is in Year 8, for the past three months. Justin is a great tutor and combines his extensive French and Drama experience well. His lessons are high energy and focused and my son really enjoys them, which is a first for lessons involving French! Justin has been completely reliable, punctual and prepared for his lessons. We have every confidence in his ability as a tutor.
Justin was very knowledgeable, focused, caring and dedicated. He has a facilitative, patient and encouraging teaching style. He encouraged our son to discuss the two books, critically analyse them and produce an outstanding piece of coursework. We would highly recommend him.
My son has been having lessons with Justin for around six months now and he really enjoys them, even looking forward to them. Justin is aware of what motivates him and the methods which allow optimal engagement. His English has improved greatly as a result.
My son was in need of some extra support and confidence boosting ahead of his 13+ exams. He is dyslexic so he needed advice on his revision techniques and to practice reading comprehension and skills in a user friendly manner. Justin immediately built a comfortable and encouraging rapport with my son. He has a very nice way with children, very positive and rewarding. He is very knowledgeable in all of the English exam requirements and tailors his approach for the individual child/person.
Justin is teaching my son French in preparation for his GCSE exams in summer 2016. After only 8 or so sessions he has already helped him immeasurably with his confidence and skills. He is very well organised, has a great rapport with his student, and knows how to balance hard work with humour. I thoroughly recommend him.
Our Client needed a good Tutor desperately for their two children after moving from China to the UK permanently. The young boy (William) aged 8 had failed three entry assessments for local independent schools when they arrived at Easter. His English level and confidence was low. The boy reacted brilliantly to Justin's tuition and has come a long way in a short time. In less than two months Justin has turned William around and he has just passed a second chance entry assessment at one of the very good schools he previously failed at. Thank you Justin!
Justin is an excellent tutor and is currently assisting our son to prepare for his GCSE in French.
He is able to engage and enthuse his students to help them achieve their full potential. We highly recommend him.Justin is an engaging, creative and inspiring tutor. His approach to work is professional and he indeed helped my son to reach his potential. His lessons are never boring, he is always patient, which in return brings out my son's enthusiasm for learning.
I would warmly recommend Justin as a tutor.Justin has always been a conscientious tutor with a good rapport and understanding of our son’s needs and abilities. He is punctual and communicates if times or dates need altering. He is very polite, calm and adaptable and our son has enjoyed studying English with him. Justin’s acting background has enabled him and our son to do some role playing of some of the characters in the books studied.
Justin has been teaching my daughter English to improve her spelling and understanding of the language and literature. He is fun and jolly and engages well with my daughter.
My daughter had English lessons with Justin to prepare for her GCSE. She is dyslexic and lacks confidence in her school work. Justin worked her out in a heartbeat. He realised that she learns best via audio and visual input and that is precisely how he taught her. She loved the lessons - wanted more! -I had never heard that from her before. He taught her how to engage with the questions at a deeper level and have the confidence to put more of her own thinking into the answers. We dont have the results yet but either way he brought her experience of Animal Farm and Of Mice and Men and english in general, alive. Seeing her confidence grow was such a delight. Justin is also a lovely person and a professional.
Justin has a great sense of humour and works well with children. He plans his tutorials in advance to suit the needs of his pupils and was always punctual and reliable. My two boys thought he was great and I would thoroughly recommend him.
I have worked with Justin for 2 years and have a great relationship with him. He is very understanding and makes work easier for me by breaking into stuff that I am interested in such as money, music and acting. As he knows I have a short attention span he tries to make lessons practical and exciting for me. I love Justin being my tutor and always request him whenever we have a meeting to discuss my future.
