About Josh
I am a recent graduate of French and Italian at Oxford University (Balliol College), with a High 2:1. During my degree years, I have also worked extensively with kids - as a football coach, tutor and teacher in a French school. The kids I worked with there, in Paris, ranged from aged 11-14. As such, I have had plenty of experience of ensuring that learning experiences are also fun ones for 7-15 year olds!
I will draw on this previous and on my own experience of great mentors and teachers - which comes from my academic career, at The Hall School Hampstead, then St. Paul's and most recently Oxford University. My aim will be to ensure that key points are grasped in a way that allows students to conceptualise clearly in their minds (and thus truly understand), whilst also enjoying themselves, mindful of the fact that tutoring works best when it feels like a relatively informal type of education. Moreover, I am fully aware - having helped children facing a plethora of different difficulties and challenges - that each young person must be treated as an individual; whether you are after specific exam technique and tips or general help with focus and drive, I will ensure that these needs are covered.
Looking forward to helping you out as best I can !

As a Movement Worker for RSY-Netzer, I worked with Josh this summer as he carried out the role of youth leader on our two week summer camp.
Josh has been a leader in RSY-Netzer since 2017. At every opportunity he has shown himself to be a committed and outstanding leader and professional.
Josh is not one to waste time; he always wants to learn more and actively looks to improve anything he is doing, thinking creatively and innovatively. He appreciates feedback and constructive criticism, as he truly believes this is the only way to really improve. If he doesn’t receive any feedback, he will keenly ask for it in order to make the event he is working on the best it can possibly be.
Through Josh’s experience in working with groups of leaders and children in RSY-Netzer, he is acutely aware of the dynamics within a group, and experienced at how to manage them and create the best environment possible. Young people have responded extremely well to him in the past, seeing him as someone they can trust and relate to. Josh is a great team player, reliable and hard working. His work ethic is also the reason Josh can be completely trusted to complete tasks alone and to a high standard. He always strives to say ‘Yes’ to young people and ideas they bring forward, but will logically analyse all options before making a decision.
One of Josh’s greatest assets is his boundless energy and enthusiasm, in exciting both himself and the people around him without patronising or irking them. He is extremely punctual, and ensures that he instils this value in the people he works with. Josh’s colleagues look up to him because of this, and appreciate his organisational abilities and his honesty when working together. He prefers when colleagues are efficient and get jobs done without much fuss, but he is completely aware that this is not the case with everyone, and has never rubbed someone up the wrong way because of this approach.
Josh has been invaluable to RSY-Netzer, and is a true role model for young Reform Jews. I believe that he would be an amazing asset to this tutoring role.
Yours faithfully,
Annie Levy
