About Joel
I am a committed, caring and supportive tutor, who cares very strongly about children’s right to a high quality education. With over twenty – seven years working in secondary schools in this country and abroad, I strongly feel that I would be a valuable asset to anyone willing to learn Mathematics. I have worked in Inclusion departments in Mainstream Schools, in Pupil Referral Centres, Primary Schools and special schools for Special Educational Needs and still teach mathematics in an Independent school. My main task has been to help students fit into the social fabric of the school, provide in-class language support and to ensure students get appropriately differentiated work. I make learning more meaningful by using concrete examples. Understanding how children learn and how they make progress has helped me to teach them in a way that exposes their cognitive gaps or misconceptions and then work to bridge these gaps. I have successfully tutored students right from primary level, GCSE and AS/A-Level mathematics. At the moment I am teaching Post 16 SEN students who have suffered traumatic life experiences and have missed on average two years of schooling. This group is making tremendous progress because of bespoke lessons tailored to bridge the gaps in their knowledge and skills.

Joel is an excellently skilled Maths Tutor with genuine passion for the subject which is demonstrated in the way he tutors young people.
He is clear and patient in his tutoring -attributes that enable young people to effectively grasp principles and concepts and succeed at working out the problems.Joel helped with my son (yr 6) and my daughter's( yr 10) maths education when they were both starting to fall behind at school.
