About Joel
Maths matters! I am enthusiastic about helping students understand why. I want to help them attain their full potential both through focused teaching to their specific needs, but also through kindling an enjoyment and appreciation for the subject.
I have taught in Secondary Schools for 5 years, teaching children of all abilities. During that time I became head of Key Stage 3 mathematics and was involved in delivering extra curricular maths activities for students. This included collaborating with the Royal Institute's Maths programme for students. I worked regularly with students with SEN and liased regularly with their support staff and families to better understand their strengths and specific needs
I have now been tutoring for over a year and have worked with a large number of students to prepare for 10+, 11+ and 13+ entrance exams. I have also worked with students preparing for GCSE and A-level. Alongside this I have started a FaceBook group which seeks to inspire both parents and children alike to gain confidence in their own mathematical abilities and to find joy in the beauty of Mathematics.

Joel is excited about maths and it's catching. Zack has been seeing him weekly for a while now and he has such a different perspective. He used to think he was bad at maths and now he loves it. He has a much deeper understanding of concepts, Joel explains things clearly and at the same time guides him to figure it out himself.
I was tutored by Joel to pass both As and A2 mathematics in a single year in order to meet university entrance requirements.
Joel was an excellent tutor, he was expecially helpful helping me understand and get my head round complicated topics such as intergration by using analogies and illustrations
