About Joanne
I am currently booking GCSE and A'level Business tuition so do feel free to contact me if you need help in the subject.
I am an associate examiner for a popular UK exam board and I have been the Head of an outstanding Business Studies department which was part of a (Specialist Business School). I have trained teach first teachers as well as been a PGCE subject co-tutor at the Institute of Education (University of London) training a number of Beginning Teachers and overseeing the NQT years of several successful members of my department, many of whom have gone on to lead their own successful departments in other schools.
More recently I have been teaching the new A'level business spec, tutoring A'level Economics and business as well as GCSE Business and Economics students for the AQA, Edexcel, WJEC, Foundation (Uni level 3) and OCR examinations, as well as IB Economics and Business using my extensive skills set in imparting knowledge given my knowledge of cognitive development and the subject content of both Business and Economics from GCSE to A' level.
I started teaching the new A'Level Business course in 2015 so having kept up to date with course developments I am now able to confidently tutor to this new specification.
I have also run winning Young Enterprise Programmes and liaised with city businesses and personal contacts to keep up to date with developments in the field.
My students have all exceeded their predicted grades and gone on to further study or employment of their choice. I have added value to their learning experience by ensuring they have related their subject knowledge directly to the curriculum content.
My marking and moderation has in the past been commended by Edexcel for accuracy while I was curriculum leader, so my experience ensures that I am able to direct students accurately for grade improvement.
As Head of Department I have successfully built and maintained business Links with city firms, including Cadbury Schweppes, The Brokerage and Linklaters I have met students needs through planning and delivery of a Pfeg personal finance course.
I've also worked with partner schools and the IOE on the Specialist Business and Enterprise school programme and attended organized events and training to this effect. I have organised enrichment activities both within the department and across the school in relation to enterprise and work related initiatives. This included running (and winning) the Young Enterprise and the NFTE Programme. I have achieved the NCTL Leading from the Middle qualification, and started the Master of Teaching at the IOE University of London as well as the Master of Political Economy.
More recently I have run a series of workshops for adult learners on various aspects of personal finance.
It is clear that subject knowledge alone does not improve students performance its that ability to understand cognitive processes and pedagogy of the profession which facilitates individual students progression, in this regard I have a proven track record, so if improvement in your economics or business grades from GCSE to A'Level as well as Vocational courses is key do feel free to contact me to discuss your needs and how I can help.
