Psychology Masters graduate and hourly paid lecturer

Hello and welcome to my page. Here is a bit more information about myself:

Throughout the past 10 years I have been keen on helping others learn and advance their skills and knowledge. In college I volunteered in a local primary school, assisting children with their reading. This enabled me to develop a style of teaching more suited to children, and I found new ways to explain things to them. Since then I have worked with young people (12-18) as a volunteer in probation. Whilst there I helped young people with their reading, writing and maths in order to look and apply for work or education. The nature of this voluntary work was very different from the primary school teaching, and again I learnt how to interact with and teach people on many different levels.

In addition to this I also have a qualification in teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL). This course taught me many advanced skills in teaching English to people who have a different first language. As a result I feel I am able to work with a wide range of people from varying backgrounds.

At present I am a research assistant in psychology, and also currently employed as an hourly paid lecturer at a Nottingham University. My area of expertise is psychology, having a masters degree in forensic psychology. My role at the university continues to develop my existing knowledge of not only psychology, but also of statistics and report writing. These skills help me with my part-time lecturing role, in which I assist with teaching first year undergraduate students research methods in psychology.

Due to my previous experience teaching and helping others, I hope you will find me to be an excellent tutor who is able to work with many different age groups and people. Whilst at school I had a maths tutor for my GCSE's, and really enjoyed having someone to work with me one-to-one. From that experience I realise the importance of being able to work through problems together, and for the client to be comfortable with the tutor. I take my own experiences as a client with me as a tutor in order to help others in the best way I can.

I look forward to hearing from you and if you have any questions please get in touch.

GCSE Maths

Jessica gave me Maths tutoring at GCSE foundation level. I am currently re taking them on a part time college course but as someone who has always struggled with Maths and was recently found to have Dyscalculia I have always felt anxious around Maths tutors/teachers. Jess completely put me at ease. In a short space of time she boosted my confidence and simplified things for me. She always arrived at my home on time and went out of her way to print worksheets out for me and books she thought would be beneficial.

Outcome:
