Hi, I`m Jenni, originally from Devon, currently living and working in London. I began playing violin aged 8 and quickly progressed through the ABRSM grades, achieving 8 distinctions as well as the dipABRSM diploma in violin performance. Recently I was awarded the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music in violin performance, studying advanced performance at the Royal Academy of Music as part of my BMus degree. I have played with many orchestras including Orion Symphony Orchestra, South West Camerata, Torbay Symphony Orchestra, the University of London Symphony Orchestra and the RCM Film Music Orchestra, and on international stages such as the Edinburgh Festival, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Royal Festival Hall. Teaching violin has always been my passion. As well as my one-on-one teaching(both exam and non-exam orientated) I recently managed and presented a series of education in schools workshops on the violin and have taken great pleasure in leading young string groups in festivals and concerts. I encourage my students to develop their own musical judgement and listening skills whilst solidifying technique, score reading and interpretation skills across a variety of genres and styles.
I have been passionate about instrumental teaching since my school days where I took a grade 1 piano club and took on young violin students whom my teacher passed onto me. Since moving to London I continue to teach violin, viola and piano privately to students of all ages and abilities ranging from beginner to grade 8 standard. My students have been successful in ABRSM exams, played in competitions, workshops, festivals and on the BBC. As well as one-on-one teaching I offer paired violin lessons for students who wish to learn with a friend. I recognise that each student is an individual and follow a teaching programme that incorporates their interests, relating practical work accordingly to, say, theory that students may have learnt in school, history of music, music in film, historical violin pedagogy, general performance skills or Alexander technique.
I try to accommodate for students` availability as best I can and if they need to change their lesson time from week to week I am usually quite flexible. My weekly commitments vary but my students come first and I am happy to work around your busy schedules too!
