About Jenna
I believe tutoring can be a really powerful tool.
I am an English teacher of 9 years and can teach across the key stages. In particular, Key Stages 2, 3 and 4. I also teach Psychology A Level.
Online tutoring during the pandemic proved really effective in teaching/clarifying/reinforcing small parts of the curriculum where students felt particularly in need.
I believe a great teacher is someone who is kind whilst maintaining expectations and someone who is well-prepared whilst also flexible. I always begin with a conversation with each student and some free writing/work from them in order to assess which approach to take. Each is tailored and my resources are specific to that approach.
I am passionate about vocabulary and poetry in particular.
I examine for AQA GCSE English Language Paper 1 so can intervene with particular impact here.
At KS5, I teach in 1 hour blocks covering content and skills from the AQA Psychology A-Level.

Perfect! Jenna
I came across Jenna when I advertised for a tutor that would be able to build confidence and prepare for and improve my son’s English grades for his GCSE’s. My son was really struggling at the time, and nowhere near passing, also not helped by the fact English was a subject he loathed and had little enthusiasm for. Suffice to say Jenna rose to the challenge. She is well prepared, sessions are thought out in terms of the students’ needs and she follows through with comprehensive feedback of how the lesson went and progressing. Jenna is personable and built a fantastic rapport with my son. She is also very confident in her ability and was sure that he would pass his exam, which he did!
At the end of the day the proof is in the pudding and the results speak for themselves. Thanks Jenna could not have achieved this without you!

Jenna has been absolutely wonderful in helping our daughter with the revision for her Psychology A- Level. Our daughter is dyslexic so sh struggles with the subject but Jenna has been able to break it up in manageable chunks that are easier to digest. She's always coming up with creative and helpful suggestions on how to revise. She's incredibly kind and patient and she never gives up! We have been really lucky to have found her.
Jenna has been tutoring my dyslexic son over the past year for his GCSE English Literature and Language exams. Jenna has found innovative ways to inspire and enthuse him into working hard on his English.
I approached Jenna to help my daughter in her second year of AL literature. My daughter, with a diagnosis of dyslexia had very little confidence. Jenna has helped her enormously with structuring her work, developing her background knowledge and giving her the confidence to take on topics she would have shied away from in the past. Jenna was thoughtful, considerate and very gentle with my daughter but also challenged her when needed.
My daughter is currently studying GCSE in English with Jenna and I could not have wished for a better person to teach my daughter. Jenna's teaching style appeals to my daughters age and she is very happy to see Jenna once a week. Ever since we have been having Jenna my daughter has already had few positive feedbacks from her English teacher at school and improved her grade. We intend to continue with Jenna until the beginning of GCSE exams. My daughter has built a rapport with Jenna which has helped in achieving a positive outcome. As well as Jenna having an outstanding teaching skill, Jenna is also very organized and always punctual. I cannot recommend Jenna high enough.
Jenna assisted me throughout my psychology BSc university degree. I am dyslexic and she supported me by proof reading all of my essays. She assessed and improved my spelling, punctuation, grammar and vocabulary. In addition she advised me on sentence and paragraph structure. Jenna was encouraging, informative and creative with her tutoring skills, which were enormously helpful with long lasting effects.
Jenna has been great at coaxing my daughter to expand her vocabulary and find deeper meanings in her English comprehension. I would recommend her to anyone.
Jenna is an excellent tutor she is so supportive and very efficient , she really motivates me and I would recommend her to anyone who is thinking of having an English teacher .
Would 100% recommend Miss Doubtfire, I came into year 11 with a grade 4 (a D). I felt hopeless and was starting to give up; Miss Doubtfire's lessons completely changed that. I started to enjoy them all and was always a top contributor. The lessons were always fun and interactive and you could see the amount of work Miss had put into each one. I will never forget having Miss Doubtfire as a teacher and the impact it has had, the progress I made was incredible and it was all down to Miss Doubtfire's impeccable teaching, so thank you.
Jenna tutored my daughter who is severely dyslexic for her GCSE English exams. Jenna was extremely helpful and understanding. My daughter felt at ease and comfortable with her and started to not only enjoy but understand English. My daughter also had a really good relationship with Jenna. We both feel that without her help my daughter would not have passed her English exams. I would thoroughly recommend Jenna to be a tutor.
Jenna is an extremely efficient, highly organised and strong teacher of English. She proved to be an invaluable member of my English team where she worked collaboratively with others to provide high quality learning experiences for young people. She is both thoughtful and imaginative in her lesson design and fully understands assessment criteria at both KS3 and KS4. I am confident that she could also deliver at KS5.
