About Jas

I am a hardworking, friendly and understanding person. I'm passionate about teaching students, as I get satisfaction from helping students improve in subjects they find difficult or need help in. I enjoyed teaching from when I was in secondary school as I helped year 7 pupils in my school. I am great listener and communicator as I'm able to communicate with people from different backgrounds and understand the needs of the students. Education has been something that I'm passionate about and creating a friendly, safe, professional and productive environment is important to me.
Also, I have gained experience with teaching students from different backgrounds, ages, and levels as I understand and speak a several of languages and can translate if necessary. I can understand and speak English, Punjabi, Urdu, and Hindi. Also, I worked in an organisation called (Minority Ethnic Women's Network) which was a charity to help women that are of ethnic background and there I had to translate for my work colleagues and had to teach English to women in their 30 and above and help them pass their driving tests. Working in this charity I also gained business administration NVQ level 2. In addition, I am aware of certain cultures and have an understanding of them as I have worked in an environment with people from different cultures. Therefore, I completed a training on cultural awareness in this charity and could understand people from different cultures even more.
Besides my experience, I come from an academic background and completed my GCSE's which were in English, Maths, Science, history, Information Technology, Art. French and religious studies so have a good understanding of these subjects. Also, later in college, I completed my AS in Law and psychology. I find Law to be an interesting subject. When I studied Law at college I enjoyed every part such as reading cases, debating, analysing cases, recalling facts about Law. This subject gave me so much knowledge about law in different matters and the skills to debate. I loved this subject it gave me the drive to achieve the best on this subject and ambition. I want my students to have the same passion, strive and ambition as me and to achieve best they in anything. I will help my students to get have same satisfaction, enjoyment, and results as I did. I can help students with essays, assignments in subjects that I have mentioned and have knowledge about.
Also, if you're struggling to study, I can offer help in study skills. In addition, recently just graduated this June in Counseling Interdisciplinary skills and worked in Samaritans during university which gave me experience and understanding on dealing with people with mental health problems and all types emotions from different ages from teenagers to adults. I have great skills which I gained through university so I can easily understand and communicate effectively with people. This degree also allowed me to improve my skills in English such as, writing, presenting, analyse, reading and speaking clearly and confidently by presenting presentations on research in front of the class.
Furthermore, I have been currently teaching English to Portuguese students for 1-year and continued after leaving university and they have improved their English. When I teach English to students I start from the basic such as alphabetises and I help them memorise them together and test them on what they have learned so I know they have learned whatever I taught them. Then I will go onto helping with pronunciation. But this technique I used was to make my students understand what it is, help them memorise and then I will test them on what I taught them so I know that they have learned. This technique has always worked from when I taught in secondary school and this method helped pupils pass their tests. Thank you for reading this I hope to hear from you soon.
