Graduate, Filmmaker and Musician Specialising in Guitar
I have played music for well over ten years and play regularly in a band I set up in 2014. I play guitar, piano, banjo and harmonica. I also sing and write songs, but specialise in guitar and can play any style including both acoustic and electric. I taught guitar briefly whilst at University and also worked as a teacher for a month at Imperial College in London, teaching history, politics and culture to Uruguayan students visiting as part of their school studies. During my time at university, where I studied filmmaking, I wrote many essays and was awarded a first for my dissertation which was on the subject of Greek tragedy, philosophy and film theory. I have a passion for literature and worked in bookshops for many years. I also write myself and have a strong grasp of the English language. As a teacher I am patient, flexible and passionate.
"James Gable is admirable in his passion and enthusiasm for music and inspiring in his talent as a musician, which taught me a lot, and more than I expected to learn. I furthered my understanding of various genres of music and I found that he engaged with my own preferences and helped me develop in the direction I really wanted to. He has an immeasurable breadth of knowledge to share with potential students, all of whom will find countless benefits in his style of tuition, as I have. Creativity, appreciation and higher understanding of music both in practice and theory are among the skills I have learnt through my lessons in guitar and songwriting with James"
