Experienced tutor/teacher in Mathematics and English
I am a graduate from the University of Exeter, with a degree in Mathematics with Economics. I also have the top grade in the TEFL qualification (distinction).
I have a lot of experience in both tutoring and teaching. I have 1 year's English teaching experience in Vietnam, covering ages 3-16. I am confident with all age groups and even set up a phonetics department at one of my English centres in Hanoi, thus I am fluent in the phonetic alphabet and have a keen ear for pronunciation. I also have experience in testing students in one to one situations and individually grading them against strict criteria.
I have tutored maths for many years in my spare time. This included tutoring students for their GCSE's at a local school whilst studying at university, running weekly help sessions at BHASVIC college for less able students doing their maths A-levels and have always helped my younger brother when he has struggled in GCSE's and A-levels.
I spent this summer teaching English at EF Language School in Brighton. This covered ages from 13-18 years old of various European nationalities. I would teach all language areas from basic sentence structures to advanced grammar. I would also take classes of 30 on excursions to London and Portsmouth every Saturday, demonstrating my aptitude for responsibility. I particularly enjoyed these trips as I could get to know my students in an informal setting.
Aside from teaching, I have also worked as a salesman for a solar energy company and a barista at a local cafe in Brighton. I am confident, patient and engaging, and am happy to adapt to any learning style.
Jack is an enthusiastic and well motivated teacher. He cares very much about his students and his peers which is reflected in his lessons. He has a great understanding of English and the processes of teaching English as a second language.
