About Jack
Hey there! My name is Jack and I'm an 18 year old former academic scholar at Eton College who is hoping to read Natural Sciences at university. I am an enthusiastic and engaging tutor; as an aspiring scientist, I really enjoy sharing my passion for maths, physics and chemistry with other students.
At Eton I was an academic scholar and prefect: whilst in the sixth form I scored full marks in the UK Senior Mathematical Challenge and won gold awards in the British Physics and Chemistry Olympiads. I achieved 5A*s at A-level and 12A*s at GCSE.
For the last two years I have been volunteering to do weekly 1-1 mentoring with students in A-level maths, teaching core concepts and addressing individual issues. This role has given me the ability to tailor clear, concise explanations according to an individual student’s needs.
My approach to tutoring is centred around academic rigour: I believe that students need to properly understand how and why things work to achieve their potential, rather than to simply memorise facts and equations. I am also friendly and patient, and try to use my passion to encourage others to enjoy what they are studying.
