Israr Doulatzai, BSc Economics at City University of London
My name is Israr and i'm going into my second year of university studying Economics. My degree subject consist heavily of Maths that requires previous knowledge from both GCSE and A level studies so i am in the radius to teach Maths to students. Also, studying Economics at A level for 2 years plus going through the same topics again at my first year of university, i am equipped with the profound knowledge, experience and confidence to teach Economics at A level.
My aim, as a tutor, is to pass on valuable knowledge to young people by various methods through a well structured plan that is uniquely catered to different students as i believe each individual learns efficiently by different techniques. This is why in class there are certain people who don't understand what is being taught in the lesson so when it comes to revision before the exams, it puts extra pressure on the student to cram and learn rather than revise and be prepared to perform well in exams.
If your son/daughter is in one of the following positions listed below and is looking for a tutor that can help them achieve their desirable grade, don't hesitate to contact me for more information.
- You are not achieving what you are capable of
- You struggle to understand difficult concepts
- You have lost the motivation to study
- You struggle to transfer what you learn in class into exams
- You have significant gaps in your learning
- You are worried that you won't achieve the requirements to stay onto 6th form or go to your chosen university
To maximize the efficiency of your son's/daughter's learning, we will focus on 2 parts:
First, we need to understand the syllabus material because this essentially contains all the topics that will be taught in class and are used by your exam board to write an exam paper thus what it is likely to consist of. Many students who self teach buy revision guides and base their learning around it but disregards the syllabus and therefore learns the wrong material for the exam.
Then, we need to identify the gaps in your knowledge to allow me to know where you are and structure a system for you to learn all the material in the syllabus so you have all the knowledge about the subject at your disposal in the exam.
Finally, to reinforce our learning and to be well prepared for the exam, we need to do as many practice questions as we can. These practice questions will be taken from your exam board textbooks and past exam papers as well as from my own material. I've personally found that practicing questions is by far the most beneficial way to test your knowledge and learn from mistakes.
Moreover, i will provide you with a variety of effective revision strategies to refresh your memory, avoid being nervous and exam techniques so you gain all possible marks. These skills are just as important as learning and practicing.
My background experience as a tutor in GCSE Maths and A level Economics comes from voluntary work in schools and colleges. As part of my university course, i took tutoring as one of my extra curricular activity and have taught in after school sessions in Islington. I was amazed at how much of a difference i made in their attitude towards studying and approaching problems independently. An important part of the way i teach comes from me being a former GCSE and A level student where i self taught myself the subjects and stumbled by making many mistakes and finding solutions to them.
When i am not tutoring and studying for my course, i like to do weightlifting, play sports, reading and attend informative public lectures about anything new. I am also currently working on creating my own website for students to have access to my own material, leave problems that they need help with and to view video tutorials of me summarizing key topics in Maths and Economics.
