About IDIRIS
Working part-time as a mathematics tutor allows me to develop my own and others’ abilities. I am regularly required to find new ways of conveying information, unravelling mathematical problems in a way that can be understood by my students. I have developed several games that support and enhance their learning. Through tutoring I have improved my communication skills, patience, initiative and most of all my confidence in working with others. Experiencing unexpected challenges daily makes my work enjoyable, and every day different. This has also forced me to time mange efficiently or else I would not have been able to train as a fencer, be a student and a tutor during the course of a week.
This is one thing I offer, make maths simple and most of all fun. I think it is important to comprehend the meaning of doing Maths and how Maths is always around us on our daily life. We are all Mathematicians in our own ways. My mission is to connect Maths to everyone and you will get a good result by doing it.
I believe that my greatest personal achievement to date has been my consistent progress in my studies. I was, completely illiterate, for half of my life time, having received no formal education whatsoever in my home country. During this time, I have not only learnt how to communicate effectively in oral and written English, but, through drive and hard work, have achieved excellent grades in my exams. My progress illustrates my level of motivation and dedication, traits I look forward to continuing to demonstrate in my students. I am equally proud to have won 'Young Builders of the Year 2012', a national award, which celebrates young people's success in overcoming obstacles.
