BAFTA nominated game and app developer

Update: Last year one of my students made the finals of the BAFTA Young Game Designer competition at the age of 12.

I have been developing video games professionally since 1998 after graduating in Computer Science from the University of Leeds. For the first few years I worked for two important UK games companies working on some well known video games such as FIFA. In 2003 I discovered a love of entrepreneurship and have since started two games development companies of my own, primarily specialising in mobile games. Past clients have included Sony, Sega and Namco as well as creating my own original games; one of which was even nominated for a BAFTA.

For the last three years I have started teaching part time at university, schools (age 11-14) and privately (age 8 to adult). Teaching is something I enjoy immensely and I am looking for a few more talented students to work with on a one-to-one basis.

Through my teaching you will learn the programming and technical skills as well as the art, design and business knowledge needed to create mobile apps for iOS and Android.

My ultimate goal is for my students (of all ages) to be making money from publishing their own apps!

An Inspirational Mobile Application Development / Mobile Games Programming Workshop at Bedford College

Following a recommendation from the University of Bedfordshire we were fortunate to have been able to arrange for Ian to deliver a short staff development workshop in June 2012. Ian's credits include founding mobile games specialist company, AirPlay, where he created the BAFTA nominated Super Yum Yum. Ian currently teaches games programming part-time at the University of Bedfordshire. This very successful workshop focused on the Corona SDK utilising the programming language Lua and was well attended by staff, He students and Level 3 programmers. Feedback received was that Ian was very knowledgeable, an excellent teacher and that the workshop was inspiring.

Ian Masters's reference

Ian is fantastic, his understanding of how to bond with a small kid is brilliant. His teaching is really good and his teaching style is combined with fun which is essential for a kid in age of 8! My son loves his lessons and I'm pleased with the progress he made in a short time. I would like to continue his lessons with Ian for as long as he needs and Ian is available. Ian is a great teacher and I recommend him strongly.
He is also very efficient and always on time :)
