About Georgia
I feel that now more than ever we are being invited to take a different approach to educating our children. I believe that children are powerful, capable and competent. By listening to children, understanding their interests and honouring their ideas, I aim to facilitate rich, creative and immersive experiences that will spark their curiosity and ignite their imagination. I work flexibly, adapting my teaching to best suit the needs of each student - please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any requests, queries etc...
I am an Artist, qualified Primary School Educator and Yoga teacher inspired by the educational philosophy and practice of Reggio Emilia and the Forest Schools of Scandinavia. I have 10 years of experience working across a range of educational environments; from secondary to primary schools, traditional nurseries to Montessori and Reggio inspired settings.
I am passionate about establishing opportunities for children to work collaboratively alongside their peers, with local community projects and in the environments that surround them. By giving them involvement in experiences that can bring context and purpose I hope they feel a sense of connectedness and affinity with the world around them.
I have spent the last four years helping to open and establish Reflections Small a School in Worthing, UK. This involved co-writing an emergent curriculum which we based around the powers of children. Last year I co-founded The InsideOut Atelier, a platform helping to facilitate immersive outdoor learning for parents and children. I am currently working part time (remotely) as a Lead Educator on a Green School project in Andalusia in Spain.
My interest in alternative models of education has led me to travel to Reggio Emilia in Italy for the International Study Week and to visit The Green School and Kul Kul Farm in Bali. I volunteered at the Danyadara permaculture project at Suryalila retreat centre in Andalucía and I have spent the last couple of years more deeply researching ways to work with permaculture principles and sustainability in my own life and in educational contexts.
