About George

Passionate PhD student who knows recipe for exam success

My name is George Karkera and I'm currently studying for a PhD in Physics at Exeter University. I have sat many, MANY exams, from GCSE to Masters level Physics, so I know the recipe for exam success. At A-level I frequently scored well above 90% in exams - including 100% in a Physics exam and 98% in Chemistry and Mathematics exams - and upon graduating with my Masters Degree I received an award for being one of the top three students in my year, based on average score. I believe that by applying my methods for learning and revision, almost any student can perform similarly.

However, I am also very passionate about science so, as well as teaching students to pass exams, I would aim to deepen their understanding and hopefully inspire a genuine interest in the subjects they're studying (which will also significantly increase their chances of exam success).

My approach is flexible and tailored to students' needs. A mixture of discussions and exercises I think works best. By spending time understanding underlying concepts and targeting weaknesses that may not have been addressed, my tutoring sessions should perfectly complement lessons given in school.
