Gavin was an asset to the organisation
The following serves as a reference for Gavin, who I managed in his role as a Team Up Tutor.
Gavin was an asset to the organisation, bringing exceptional diligence and enthusiasm to his work and displaying it through the course of his school placement, tutoring English to a group of Y9 pupils.
As someone currently studying for a PGCE Secondary English at the University of Cambridge, I recommend Gavin without any reservation and I am sure he will help any person to the best of his ability.
Improved the English skills of a group of students.
Reference for G Fiddler
Gavin studied full-time for a BA in History at Birkbeck, University of London, graduating in 2014. He performed extremely well through his degree course, and was a pleasure to teach. He is a bright and analytical student, who was always well-prepared, courteous and fully engaged in seminars. His written work, meanwhile, was very well composed, clear and coherent. His strong research skills also came through in his dissertation, where he gained a very high mark of 75. In short, Gavin is an excellent historian, with great communication skills, and will make for an outstanding tutor.

Action Tutoring - volunteer tutor (Autumn '15)
Gavin tutored English (Year 10) with us at St Gabriels College in Oval. He arrived at every tutoring session on time and well-prepared. In his initial session he took the time to chat to his pupil and get to know him, building good rapport and assessing his confidence and level of ability. He is friendly and approachable, has good subject knowledge, and there is no reason for him not to work with children - there have been no disciplinary issues.
Gavin's pupil gained confidence in his written and spoken English.
We gave him a chance but sadly it didn't work out. Gavin was too loud and had a tendency to make his tutee lack in confidence and was found to be condescending.
Gavin never provided praise but loved to talk about what he knew.
After three lessons he decided to increase his rate because other tutors were earning more than him!
We mutually parted ways.
Organised and Patient tutor
Gavin is a very organised tutor and very determined to get results. He is patient and always brings new ideas when teaching my daughter. Also he had helped her with her History coursework. I would recommend him as a tutor.
English Literature (A-Level)
Improved her skills in English and History.
A dedicated tutor and aspiring teacher
Gavin tutored small groups of GCSE students to help raise their attainment in English literature and language.
The pupils made demonstrable improvement in their ability to answer English GCSE writing questions and built a good rapport with Gavin.
Personally I didn't like him at all!

Gavin has recently taken part in the Future Frontiers programme, during which he was responsible for delivering 8 career coaching sessions to a Year 10 student at a school in South West London.
As team leader, I worked closely with Gavin and observed his sessions. He built very good rapport with his assigned student right from the beginning. He attended every session and gave the student valuable advice on his career choices and academic performance.
During the last two weeks of the programme, Gavin was required to book two interviews with professionals of his student's top two career choices. He handled this task brilliantly and delivered the sessions as expected.
Overall, his student, myself and Future Frontiers were pleased with Gavin's performance as a coach. I would recommend him without hesitation.
Gavin successfully delivered all sessions on the programme.
