Qualified teacher, AQA Examiner and Moderator, 2ic Physics
I work full time as a science teacher for a school in Wimbledon; one of the top 100 schools in the UK based on progress. I assist in mentoring Newly Qualified Teachers NQTs in addition to other pastoral and academic duties in my role as the Second in Charge of Physics. I am a moderator and examiner for AQA exam board, and have over 4 years’ experience in teaching science at KS3 and KS4 and Physics at KS5. I have taught and regularly critique OCR, EDEXCEL and AQA curriculum and their exams. Therefore, I have access to the question bank and up to date information on changes in the pedagogy and the curriculum.
I have an impressive all round science subject knowledge: 5 A’ Level subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Math and Further Math - 2A*,2A and B), a B.Sc HONS in Physics and PGCE in Science with Physics with qualified teacher's status QTS. I have been judge outstanding OFSTED 2014, and one of my core strengths being addressing students' needs (Professional Teacher's standard 5) and using formative assessment for learning (Professional Teacher's standard 6).
Prior to becoming a Qualified teacher, I ran the science club for my secondary school from year 10-13. I was paid to teach foundation Physics and ran tutorial sessions at university while doing my undergraduate degree.
Outside school, I work as a private tutor and as a UNICEF ambassador. I enjoy going on adventures, I am graded 2nd kyo in Judo with recommendation to go on the coaching programme. I love playing football, reading STEM journals and playing video games. I also enjoy experimenting science concepts and/or creating models alone or with colleagues. I am also an active member of the National Union of Teachers NUT.
I have an excellent track record in private tuition; with the students gaining admission to Cambridge, Exerter, Imperial, 4 gained admission into medical degree, ALL of them met their targets with a few students making over 2 levels progress. I hope we can work together to sustain this excellent achievement.
We had only one lesson so far, the first impact was very positive and managed to engage well with my son, making the lesson interesting and confirming a good knowledge of the subject, but also teaching abilities to progress a child.
