About Francis
I am a fourth year postgraduate medical student. Previously I completed my bachelors in biochemistry. I have never taken education and results for granted, I fully understand just how hard it is and how much harder it is becoming almost daily to meet the standards necessary to succeed. At all stages in my life I had one form of tutoring or another. I know what it is likely to sit on the other side of the table and reap the benefits, and ultimately the rewards of having a tutor.
I have had the privilege of tutoring different ages all the way from 11+ to first year university biochemistry level. During my second year of biochemistry I got to be a one on one mentor for first year students. This was both fun and challenging as most students wanted to know details to varying depths. More often than not second year level or even further, which required me to thoroughly prepare for every session.
The youngest age group of 11+ exams reminded just how high the standards are from such a young age.
I prefer a tutee led approach. The tutee is the expert of themselves, they know what works best for them. My role is to facilitate that process and aid their learning not to change it. I do often share my approach to learning and studying just so they get an idea of how others do it, they may even go onto to try it. Ultimately the tutee will be guiding the process.

To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to refer Francis Banhidy for a tutoring position.
My name is Sara Beqiri and I am a Year 3 medical student at UCL.
During the Nutrition and Metabolism module of Year 1, I encountered difficulties with the biochemistry topics of metabolism. Through his experience from a previous degree in the field, Francis supported my learning over the course of 7 weeks. Not only did it help me recover my previous knowledge from 6th form, but the sessions helped me gain a logical understanding of the extremely complex pathways like Glycolysis, TCA, Fats and amino acids metabolism and so on.
His passion for medicine and the applicability of scientific knowledge came across when explaining the connection of all the pathways to specific conditions, like GSDs and many other key metabolic disorders.
He encouraged active learning through utilising graphs and a variety of teaching tools, including quizzes and flashcards. Through these sessions not only did I develop a strong understanding of Biochemistry, but also got to learn very useful studying techniques from my tutor that I now still apply when preparing for my modules!
His personality traits of patience, motivation and calmness helped me persevere in my efforts to understand a very challenging topic for me. I believe these skills will not only make him a great tutor but also a brilliant future doctor.
For all the above mentioned reasons, I very strong support Francis as a tutor for your platform. He would provide invaluable help for any of your students!
Best wishes,

Best wishes,
Sara BeqiriAlthough Francis was determined to study Medicine after A levels, he was also very much interested in Religious Studies at GCSE level and he decided to achieve the top grade by studying hard and investing extra time and effort. He was so keen to obtain the highest mark that he even asked for extra tuition from myself; and I was happy to support his endeavour. I have never had such a studious, diligent and hard-working student like Francis during my teaching career. He is not just an exemplary student, but a perfect educator who is happy to help students to succeed in achieving their learning goals. I do highly recommend Francis as a tutor.
