About Firas

Imperial College Medical Student

Hi guys!

I am currently a third year clinical medical student from Imperial College. I have a lot of tutoring experience, as well as tutoring and training students for Aptitude tests such as UKCAT and BMAT a well as Medical School Interview Prep, if you're interested please read on.

I have had two years tutoring experience at a professional tuition centre. As well as that, I have been active with Kaplan to provide help with innovative techniques in both BMAT and UKCAT examinations.

I strongly believe that academic excellence only comes with repetitive practice and the right exam techniques, and I am more than happy to adapt to the needs of the tutees. Having grown up in Germany, I have been actively volunteering for the 'Goethe Institut', which represents German cultures abroad. I am fluent up to the native level in the German language and I Have experience in tutoring in German.
During my A-Levels, I have completed an EPQ on 'Renal Diseases and their ethical considerations', where I had the privilege to present it to members of the Society for Endocrinology, upon which I have received positive feedback.

Tutoring Approach:
I usually tailor my lessons according to the needs and expectations of the tutees. I have collected a vast resources bank over the years & I have access to most of AQA's resources, so I can provide a lot of teaching material to the tutee, which will further reinforce the learned material in the lesson. I monitor the tutee's progress closely to identify areas of improvement, for which I would tailor the classes.

Past Experience:
Most of my students have excelled in their examinations following my tutoring experience, achieving the best grades in their cohort at their school . Having worked in a very diverse tuition centre, I have come across different abilities among the student population, therefore I can commit to adapt accordingly. I dealt with exam scripts for AQA in the past and have overlooked the official marking procedure, which gave me the opportunity to network with chief examiners and get a 'taste' of what the examiners are looking for.
I have also been involved in mock interviews for prospective medical applicants, as well as supporting Personal Statements for Medicine.

Extra-Curricular Activities:
I have worked as a youth counsellor in my locality, as I like interacting with young adults and provide them help in their matters. With more than 2 years experience at King's College Hospital as a pre-surgery volunteer, I am committed to serve and give back to my community. I am also part of the Medsin Community at Imperial College London, which raises awareness of recent global health inequalities, struggles and issues. Our society is known to be unbiased in our approach, where we invite a number of speakers from pharmaceutical firms and global health experts to speak on these issues.

Great tutor

Written by Mo A
I have worked closely with Firas for a long time, and I am confident in his ability. He has had a lot of excellent feedback and reviews from his students and as a colleague, I always refer my students to him. He is organised, knows his content well and is very friendly and approachable.
He has always made a positive change on students, making them pass with higher grades and planting interest in them in the chosen subject.

Within months of being tutored Firas has helped me gain confidence in Chemistry and I am currently performing well in lessons held in college. He is patient and will find different ways of teaching if Im unable to understand something. He checks with the specification of the exam board to ensure everything is covered.
Getting good results in chemistry, better understanding of chemistry, feeling more motivated

A pleasant experience

I had first never understood German and it felt different when you have relatives who are speaking this language therefore I decided to take on German in which when I had found a tutor like this my speaking had risen so much that now I can understand what they say instead of using google translate most of the time. Thank you
