About Fiona

Qualified English teacher, PhD candidate, Oxbridge educated

I am a qualified English teacher who previously led the Key Stage 3 curriculum in a North London school. Currently working on my PhD, I have taken time away from secondary school but remain committed to teaching and last year led seminars as an associate lecturer on a third year university course. I am passionate about my subject and believe in providing each tutee with an individualised programme of work designed to draw out his/her full potential.

I am available to tutor in person or online. I work with GCSE Language and literature students and those studying at AS/A level in English Literature. I am also willing to discuss tutoring undergraduate students undertaking nineteenth century modules.

Highly recommended

Written by Anne N
We found Fiona to be an experienced and effective tutor - our daughter felt the benefits immediately after their first session.

With an approachable manner Fiona has an excellent understanding of her subject matter and can pace her time to ensure points made are fully understood.

Emailed feedback is an extra benefit - which we really appreciate - and has helped to identify which areas need more attention.

We are very happy to recommend Fiona.

Fiona has been helping my son with English language and literature GCSE. As a practicing English teacher she has up-to-date curriculum knowledge and an excellent grasp on how to help my son understand what is asked of him. She kind, warm and calm and this has really helped my son to get the most out of the lessons. She has been incredibly helpful in the first few lessons really making a difference already. Her email feedback to me between lessons keeps me up to speed with where they are at. It's been fantastic. Many thanks.

Fiona came recommended to us and my daughter felt the benefit of her help from the very first lesson. My daughter has found the subject hard and received little help at school but Fiona's lessons are very well planned and she knows the texts extremely well. My daughter feels more capable of writing her essays due to the boost in confidence Fiona has given her.
