About Fiona
Hi my name is Fiona. I am currently working as a primary school teacher in key stage 2. My students have always enjoyed being in my class due to my calm and supportive methods of teaching and my enjoyable lesson plans. I have extensive key stage 2 experience, including teaching in year 6.
I have worked in a range of schools and have even worked as a live in aupair in Spain. I enjoy getting to know my students, building a rapport with them and their parents, and helping them achieve their educational goals.
I have extensive experience of working with children with additional educational needs and children who speak English as a second language. I am able to differentiate and tailor my teaching to help children develop their strengths and overcome any difficulties they are having. I am a strong believer in the growth mindset and believe that children can achieve anything they set their minds to. I believe that my role as a teacher is to help facilitate children’s learning and help them achieve success in their futures.
I completed my PGCE and QTS through the highly regarded Teach First programme. Before teaching, I completed a geology degree at The University of Edinburgh and then a Master of research in Marine Geology and Geophysics at Southampton university. My masters research was then published in a well respected geology journal.
