About Fernando
I am currently training to become a Spanish teacher for adults at the Instituto Cervantes. Also I hold an undergraduate degree in Philosophy from Birkbeck College, London, and I intend to further my academic work by undertaking a PGCE to teach philosophy in sixth form and secondary schools.
The skills and methods I learned at university have continued to profit me since I left – hence the idea of teaching them to new students allured me.
False thinking such as indefinite techniques of persuasion proliferates in our culture. Familiarity with common falsehood of this sort helps make one a more critical reader, listener and therefore thinker. I believe that exercising in mental gymnastics trains the intellect to think more distinctly and creatively, which benefits all aspects of life. Among others, it puts you on the right path to become a better citizen, less likely to make undesirable choices for unsound reasons.
However I understand the exercise of logical thinking requires a good deal of dedication and patience. Being of a sanguine temper and doted with a natural optimistic disposition, I am confident I can help young learners develop this innate rational faculty. I provide learning support to A-level students within any analytic domain, including History, Sociology and Mathematics (until certain extent) and all major departments of Philosophy such as logic, epistemology, civility and ancient (classic) philosophy. In a nutshell I can help other learners attain the quality of being coherent and intelligible in their speech and writing.
Other areas of interest, given my background in arts and filmmaking, are Aesthetics: the branch that is concerned with the nature and appreciation of beauty... And obviously South American Literature!

Perfect! An excellent experience
For me it has been an excellent experience. Fernando gave me really useful tips on writing philosophical essays. Also he brilliantly explained Inductive arguments for my Epistemology assignment. I reccomend him for help in IB Theory of Knowledge.
He is very competent and available.
