About Felix
Eton King’s Scholar with an Oxford history offer, able to teach all subjects to Common Entrance or Scholarship level, and History, Maths and Latin to GCSE. I love the challenge of passing on my knowledge to others and helping them see the beauty of their subjects, even if they are struggling. I pride myself on organisation and hitting deadlines under pressure, while ensuring the quality of my work, and so I have never missed a lesson or been unprepared for a pupil. Although I love history, I find maths and statistics fascinating: I’m teaching myself R and reading undergraduate textbooks on statistics in history. I would like to work primarily during the school holidays with clients in the London area.
EDUCATION AND ACADEMIC HIGHLIGHTS

Devonshire House School, Hampstead. Sep ‘03 - Dec ‘10
TUTOR QUALIFICATIONS
Lots of recent exposure to excellent teachers and successful friends has shown me a variety of effective learning strategies, and I can share that knowledge with students.
Can adapt to different students, having taught students from several different backgrounds
Similar age to tutees, so can connect to them personally and bring a fresh approach to learning that they won’t have had with older teachers
able to empathise with their problems and perhaps provide a good example.
Unique strength is in preparing for the Eton King’s Scholarship, because the complexity of the exams is such that my inside knowledge of the people who set the paper and what it was like to sit it will be invaluable.
Brought in as a consultant on the Eton King’s scholarship by Summer Fields Oxford, historically the most successful prep school at preparing for Eton
Also capable of teaching 13+ entry, all scholarship entry, GCSEs and 11+.
Have tutored 16, 14, 13 and 11 year olds
Particularly strong in English, History, Maths and Classics
TUTOR CAREER
Self-Employed, London: Private Tutor. July ‘17 - Present
Working for several tutor agencies, including Athena, Minerva, Tutorhouse, Tutorful and Humanitas. This involved face-to-face interviews with three of the agencies, after which I was accepted having made a good impression.
Only had five star reviews, a selection of which said that:
“Felix is brilliant. He is very young and bright and can lead the children and keep them focused”
“Felix is a young teacher who can teach incredibly”
“he analysed well before stepping into lessons and identified the skills that required support”.
Community Work: September ‘16 - April ‘17
Worked in the local Slough and Eton School with underprivileged teenagers for two hours a week. I helped a 13 year old Romanian boy with reading, and then taught two 16 year old boys the GCSE English syllabus.
OTHER WORK EXPERIENCE
Circus Street, London: Paid Intern. July ‘16 - August ‘16
Circus Street is a company of 60 people making video lessons to teach company employees about online marketing and the internet, covering topics such as SEO, ads on websites and social media, and working with hundreds of clients, including an exclusive contract with Unilever.
Worked primarily in the Tech team, editing the lessons, moving lessons on to the live website and helping to organise their AGILE workflow through JIRA, including editing the backlog, participating and writing up SWOT reviews, and testing new features. My main project was to create dynamically updating dashboards through Klipfolio to show KPIs clearly for each department of the company, using data from Google Trends, JIRA, Zendesk and their Sequel Pro database.
Improved my IT skills, especially Excel, and I am currently working towards an official certification in Excel
Worked for the Customer Service, Content and Design teams as well.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR
Sport
Set myself to a goal to play for the school 1st XV, and managed to play several times in the 2017 season, as well as trialling for Middlesex. I’m extremely proud of this, as I did it through my own self-starting determination and work ethic despite below average talent.
Been involved in sports other than rugby, particularly rowing and powerlifting. I’ve been a leader in several, organising other people to play, and enjoyed the challenge of playing for Finsbury Park men's’ rugby club aged 16, when everyone else was out of university.
Societies
Run the Diplomatic and Visionary Societies at school, inviting speakers to talk, requiring me to delegate to committee members, write letters and arrange events. I invited David Goldberg, CEO of Founder’s Pledge to talk about the future of charity, and am expecting Nicholas Hopton, British Ambassador to Iran.
