About Federica

Experienced and enthusiastic language tutor from Italy

I am Federica, I am from Italy, and I am a PhD student in Chinese literature at SOAS.

I have now more than ten-year teaching experience in foreign languages as both a private tutor and a teacher in foreign language schools. At the core of my passion for teaching lies my enthusiasm to share with my students my passions for studying, and for foreign languages and culture. I am really committed to and passionate about teaching, and I can guarantee that I will always try my best to make my classes a gratifying and valuable experience for all my students.

I am a qualified Italian teacher, and on June 2017 I have obtained my certificate as a recognised Italian teacher for foreign students (CEDILS, University of Venice) with distinction. I have also a six-month experience as a native language teacher in Italian in an Italian cultural centre based in China, Basilico. My communicative approach to Italian always make sure my students can gain solid basis and confidence when speaking Italian. And you will see improvement within few tutorials!

Recently, I have also become a Mandarin teacher for kids, teaching groups of up to 12 kids in nurseries and primary schools around London. As part of my official training, I was trained to teach Mandarin through signs, storytelling, games, and songs! My experience so far tells me that I will make sure that your kids will have fun while learning one of the most interesting languages in the world!

As a PhD student, I work as a writing tutor for the Learning and Teaching Department of my university. I mainly help MA and BA students to improve their academic writing, giving them feedback and offering them guidance to work on their weaknesses, while improving their strengths. To ensure the quality of my job, I received full training to deal with academic writing problems. Besides, I have also attended a three-day course organized by my university valid enabling me to teach in higher education (PDHEP, core units 1.1 1.2 1.3).

When I am not teaching, I love travelling around Europe and China, cooking, playing the guitar and reading. I also love doing sport, and I have a great passion for badminton, swimming, yoga and volleyball.

A very good tutor

Written by Debora C
Federica has successfully tutored one of my students in 2013. With her deep knowledge of Chinese language and advanced teaching techniques she provided the student with a good study plan which helped him pass the exam he had previously failed.
The student successfully passed the exam, even if he had many problems

To Whom It May Concern:
I have known Federica Gamberini for more than six months as one of our Italian language and culture teachers at Basilico – Italian language and culture centre (Hangzhou). She worked for our school from January 2017 to June 2017, for a total amount of 700 hours, as a private Italian tutor for classes of one or two students, occasionally teaching to larger groups of 6/10 students when required. As her manager and director of Basilico, I appreciated Federica’s commitment to teaching Italian language and culture to Chinese students, and to support them in their learning process.
Over the six months she worked for us, Federica performed all assigned tasks and duties with punctuality and professionality, always arriving at work on time and properly dressed. She showed good ability to work as part of a team, collaborating with other teachers and communicating important information effectively.
Furthermore, Federica demonstrated great adaptability by teaching classes of different levels (A1, A2, B1), and by helping students with the preparation of Italian language certificates (mainly PLIDA A2).
While performing her duties and tasks, Federica always worked with great enthusiasm and with a positive attitude. This has enabled her to establish a great relationship with both her colleagues and her students. All these aspects made Federica one of our most valuable teachers.
I have worked with Federica as her manager, and I got the chance to observe closely her work. Any school or organization dedicated to the teaching of Italian and any other foreign language and culture will appreciate Federica’s hard work and dedication to teaching, and her attention to students’ learning experience.
I wish Federica the very best in her future career. If I can be of any further assistance in supporting her application, please feel free to contact me at any time.
very satisfying.

My first Italian tutorial

Written by Erica S
Fedrica came well equipped with appropriate resources to my first tutorial. I didn't know what my expectations were initially as I've never experienced private tuition for any languages and I have to say I completed the session feeling confident that I was extremely fortunate to have found Fedrica, she is very professional and I'm sure my Italian will make great progression in the near future.
A first class tutor.

Italian tutor

Federica gave me 6 very well planned and resourced tutorials before my recent trip to Italy. The lessons were very well structured and covered new language as well as spending a good balance practising the vocab learnt from he previous lesson. The preparation for each tutorial was very impressive.
I would certainly recommend Federica and have done so already!

Federica is excellent!
