About Federica
I am Federica Mascherpa, a graduate in English with Creative & Professional Writing at St Mary's University, Twickenham. I was awarded with a First Class Honours with an overall mark of 84% - the highest in my year and one of the highest ever given to a student. My dissertation - a project on the use of superstition and superstition language in the sea fiction of Joseph Conrad which I completed under the supervision of one of the world-leading Conrad's scholars, Prof. Allan H. Simmons - was granted a 90% mark and was praised by the university's external commissioner.
Following my high achievement, it was suggested that I should apply for doctorate studies, and I was accepted at Edinburgh Napier University and I am currently pursuing a PhD in English Literature - the provisional title of my thesis being 'Superstition in Nineteenth-Century Seafaring Literature'. All this despite me being a non-native English speaker!
While I might understand the worries of entrusting a non-native speaker with the teaching of English to a native speaker, I can assure you that I am passionate about English literature and English in general, a passion that I feel is reflected in my decision to do an English degree in the UK and in the grades I earned while doing it. In the course of my degree, the majority of my grades were between firsts and high firsts, thus, I think, well demonstrating both my skills in English and my commitment to achieve the best results.
If you are looking for a tutor for Italian:
I am a native Italian speaker and, as such, I would be the best support for anyone who wants to achieve the best results in their Italian studies! I have studied with proficiency in one of the best high schools in Italy and have a profound knowledge of both Italian grammar and Italian literature. I am therefore able to provide an experience that non-native Italian speakers cannot provide.
GCSE Latin
Having studied Latin for five years at excellent level in my Italian high school, I strongly believe in my ability to deliver high-quality Latin lessons in preparation for the GCSE.
I might not be the best of the best, but I am passionate about what I am doing (how do you think I got that degree if not thanks to my passion for English?) and devoted to those whom I am teaching (so much that, in my previous tutoring job, they kept me for 5 years!).

I was Federica Marschepa’s tutor for each of the three years of her degree programme at St Mary's University, teaching her on different courses each time. I can confirm that Federica is a very bright person who has both a strong work ethic and the initiative to develop her studies beyond the boundaries of the seminar room. Federica spoke well and intelligently in each of her classes and her tutorials. She was always well prepared and performed well within class discussions and debates.
Federica’s academic work developed consistently throughout the time that I taught her. She was always ready to discuss the progression of her work. In level six (third year) her work revealed a sound grasp of study and research skills, offering very well-structured arguments. Her writing skills and general literacy are of an excellent standard.
Overall teaching Federica was a stimulating experience as she responded intelligently and enthusiastically to discussion of the material that she was studying. She has a very pleasant personality and is a reliable and very honest person. I have no hesitation in recommending her to you. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further information.

020 8240 4806Federica Mascherpa completed her BA degree at St Mary’s University in July 2018. She graduated with a very high First Class pass.
Federica’s English programme included modules in both Language and Literature. She performed excellently in both disciplines.
Of Italian origin, Federica is fluent in English – and a host of other languages, including French and German. She is also very well read and a committed scholar: she is currently working towards a PhD in English Literature.
Federica is reliable, personable and attentive to the needs of others. She is also an excellent and patient communicator. Combined with her evident depth and breadth of knowledge, these qualities will make her a great teacher.
I am happy to recommend her to you.
