About Faith
Hi! I'm Faith and I study History and French at Cambridge University. I have just returned from my year abroad, after spending 9 months studying and working in Paris and Lyon. I would like to share my passion, skill and experience in my subjects to other students.
I speak three foreign languages: French (fluent), Spanish (advanced) and Italian (beginner). Having achieved A*s at GCSE and A-Level in French and Spanish, I am aware of writing, speaking and grammar expectations of exam boards and would be happy to work within this framework. I would also strive to improve students' confidence in their French and Spanish conversation, as well teaching them more generally about aspects of European culture.
I also study History as part of my joint honours degree. I have a particular expertise in 19th and 20th century European history, but have also studied global 20th century history (partition, decolonisation, Vietnam and the Cold War). Studying history at Cambridge has required a particularly rigorous and disciplined approach to essay structure and argument, I would be happy to bring this experience to help students with their essay technique and writing skills. I would also be happy to discuss and debate wider topics, questions and content that they find difficult.
Having spent two happy years at Cambridge, I am happy to help with Oxbridge applications. I have really enjoyed the supervision/tutorial system and can help explain how this applies to the interview. Having additionally taken the HAP (Oxford History admissions' test), as well as the Cambridge MML test, I can provide support with these.
I have had extensive teaching experience. I have volunteered at the Institut Français' Children library, tutored English to two French children (in Paris) and spent 2 months last summer teaching English in India and Nepal. I have really enjoyed these roles, and would bring this experience to this site.
