About Emma
I am passionate about working with and inspiring children, and have nearly 10 years of experience. I pride myself on being an enthusiastic, kind and understanding tutor, focusing on developing confidence with the subject and helping to create self-belief in addition to increasing skills. During my time as a tutor, I have worked one to one with a wide range of age groups and subjects, developing skills and techniques to teach at primary and secondary level. I have tutored primary school children in drama, developing their creative skills and confidence and helping them learn lines for schools plays; tutored reception children in basic literacy and numeracy, helping them to reach or go beyond their expected level, developing their listening skills to promote good concentration at school and at home; tutored primary school pupils of both KS1 and KS2 in numeracy and literacy, teaching everything from long division to comprehension to Shakespeare.
For Protocol teaching agency, I have worked both long and short term placements at primary schools gaining invaluable teaching experience in EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. My roles have included covering classes, working with small groups of higher ability, doing interventions with lower ability children in both numeracy and literacy and reading with a wide range of ability. I have also worked in special needs schools and currently work two days a week in The Link Primary, Croydon so have extensive experience with SEN children and sign basic Paget and Makaton.
In addition to my teaching, I am a theatre director and run my own schools workshop business for which I have created a workshop programme containing curriculum based sessions for all age groups. During these workshops I have lead and developed exercises; taken small and large groups to create and develop characters; helped children to grow in confidence and cultivated creative skills, inspiring them with a love of everything from Shakespeare to World War Two.
Delivering these workshops, teaching and tutoring has taught me how to keep children engaged and having fun through learning. It has helped me develop an excellent rapport with pupils and gain a real love of teaching. I hope that I can bring this to every tutoring role in the future through this site.

Perfect! Lovely tutor
Emma works with my 4.5 year old son really well, has taken time to understand his personality and him being the strong willed child that he is. She is very patient with him and will work on any ideas that I have for him also. Very professional

Emma has helped my 13 year old niece immensely since she started working with her on Maths, English and science. Her ability to tailor her approach to my niece's particular educational needs is exemplary as is the progress my niece has made. Above all she has fun.
Emma has been helping our daughter get more organised as she starts her AS exams. Her calm manner and reassurance has boosted our daughter's confidence and helped her feel much more on top of the unbelievable workload demanded by the A level curriculum. I can enthusiastically recommend Emma and her very valuable help.
Emma is an excellent tutor with good skills to teach.
