About Emily
I studied Acting at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, and graduated with a First Class Honours Degree.
Since then, I have worked on both stage and screen respectively, including BBC’s ‘Doctors’, ‘Endeavour’ for ITV, ‘Harlots’ for Hulu and recently the feature film 'Greatest Days'. Theatre work includes Philip Ridley’s ‘Karagula’ for Soho Theatre and Secret Cinema’s, ‘Dr Strangelove’. I have also filmed a variety of short films in between.
Throughout my training, I was taught by truly inspiring tutors who passed on to me a real passion to teach to others. Learning the art of voice, movement and acting, I am able to create bespoke lessons tailored to exactly what you would like to achieve; be that getting into Drama School or simply improving your confidence in public speaking.
I take great pride in my teaching and thoroughly enjoy a challenge. I am aiming to offer valuable and long lasting tuition to all of my clients. I look forward to hearing from you!

In addition to my exceptional track record of maintaining a 100% pass rate with Distinction or Merit results over the last 9 years, my LAMDA lessons are designed to provide students with a comprehensive foundation in the performing arts. With a decade of experience in LAMDA teaching, I have gained an in-depth understanding of the examination process and what is expected from pupils.
I am passionate about the transformative power of LAMDA, not only in terms of academic achievement but also its profound impact on students' confidence and performance abilities. It's truly rewarding to witness my students grow and excel in both these aspects.
I am well-versed in teaching all the different LAMDA syllabuses, ranging from Entry Level to Grade 8, ensuring that I can cater to students at various stages of their journey.
My teaching approach is highly adaptable, tailored to the individual goals and aspirations of each student. A typical lesson with me includes a variety of elements:
- Vocal & Physical Warm-Up: We begin with a holistic warm-up that encompasses vocal exercises to enhance articulation, projection, and vocal control. Physical warm-up routines help students get in touch with their bodies, improve posture, and develop physical expressiveness. These warm-up activities not only prepare students for the lesson but also help them establish a strong connection between their voice and body, crucial for effective performance.
- Drama Games: The use of interactive drama games and exercises creates a dynamic and enjoyable learning environment. These activities encourage creativity, teamwork, and spontaneity. Drama games can vary from improvisation challenges to group exercises, all designed to foster a fun and supportive atmosphere, where students can explore and expand their acting abilities.
- Textual Analysis: In this phase, we delve deep into the selected text, whether it's a monologue, scene, or a specific piece from the LAMDA syllabus. We closely examine the script's themes, characters, and historical context. This textual analysis helps students develop a profound understanding of the material and enables them to make thoughtful and authentic acting choices.
- Vocal Exercises: We dedicate time to vocal exercises aimed at improving clarity, diction, projection, and emotional expression. These exercises help students unlock the full potential of their voice, allowing them to communicate effectively and emotionally engage with their audience.
- Character Development: Depending on the text, we may work on character development. This involves exploring the character's motivations, emotions, and relationships within the context of the script. We focus on building multi-dimensional characters to ensure students can bring authenticity and depth to their performances.
- Performance Practice: This is the practical application of the concepts learned in the lesson. Students work on their chosen pieces, whether it's a monologue, scene, or a presentation from the LAMDA syllabus. We pay attention to blocking, staging, and the finer details of the performance, ensuring that students not only understand their characters but also convey them convincingly on stage.
- Feedback and Evaluation: Throughout the lesson, I provide constructive feedback and guidance to help students refine their acting techniques and skills. We work together to address areas of improvement and celebrate their strengths.
- Homework and Practice: I may assign homework or specific practice tasks to reinforce the lesson's concepts. This could include memorising lines, further character exploration, or additional vocal exercises. Practice is key to progress, and I encourage students to invest time outside of the lesson.
[Additional elements tailored to the student's specific goals and needs]
The goal of each lesson is not only to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge for LAMDA exams but also to nurture their passion for acting and help them become well-rounded performers. My teaching style combines a structured approach with creativity and individualisation, ensuring that every student can flourish in their own unique way.
My work encompasses a wide range of offerings, including:
* LAMDA Lessons for All Levels and Ages: Providing guidance and coaching for students of diverse ages and abilities.
* Drama School Audition Preparation: Assisting students in selecting the right drama school for their ambitions and helping them choose suitable audition pieces.
* Script Analysis: Offering expertise in both modern and classical scripts, ensuring students can dissect and perform them with confidence.
* Performing Shakespeare: Equipping students with the skills to comprehend verse and prose, allowing them to tackle the Bard's work with confidence and authenticity.
* General Audition Technique: Preparing students to excel in auditions, ensuring they can showcase their talents effectively.
* Self-Tape Preparation / Screen Audition Preparation: Providing guidance on how to deliver a compelling performance for on-screen auditions, including the technical aspects of self-taping.
I'm dedicated to helping my students not only pass their LAMDA exams but also to discover and develop their true potential as performers, building a strong foundation for a successful career in the world of theatre and the arts.

Emily is always on time for the lessons and my daughter loves her. She cares and is very passionate and enthusiastic about what she is delivering. I think they are studying monologues at the moment and I love hearing my daughter learning her lines in her room.
