About Elena
ITALIAN Italian native speaker tutor and a graduate in Scienze Politiche at the Universita’ degli Studi di Firenze: I previously studied classics at the Liceo G. Galilei in Pisa.
I am qualified to teach foreign languages, I hold the OCN Diploma in Teaching Foreign Languages (2009) and the PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Life Long Sector) Diploma (2012), both obtained in London. I moved to the UK in 1996.
FRENCH
I spent a year in Quebec as a teen and I am fluent in French.
MATHS
As a TA in a busy primary school and a mother of two I can help you with mathematical skilks and homework.
My lessons are strictly STUDENT CENTRED, and so is my teaching style, aimed at making as much progress as possible in the shortest time: basically aiming at making myself redundant in the shortest time possible! ;)
I see my role as a tutor as being a ‘language coach’, motivating and getting the best out of the student: ANYONE can learn to speak another language. I am here to guide you, encourage you, support you in your learning journey.
Whatever your motivation, school exams, work or other reasons, you CAN learn a foreign language: I’ll make sure you do! I combine various methodologies, drawn from academic experience and my practical experience of languages - I speak three fluently and so can you!
As a qualified Emotional Freedom Technique therapist I can also integrate in the language lesson various techniques to better memorise words and the Italian language and to free the subconscious from various fears associated to learning a foreign language.
