About Elena

Elena García Vargas - Archaeologist and MSc student at UCL

Graduated in Archaeology in 2016, now studying a MSc in Human Evolution and Behaviour at the University College of London.
I have experience with kids and teenagers as well as with university students.
I spent last year in the United States with a scholarship, helping the Spanish department of the University of the South as well as tutoring Italian in the same institution.
I studied since I was 2 years old until I was 17 in the Lycée Français de Madrid, in Spain, and obtained my BAC in Sciences with a mean grade of 15/20.
I have also experience tutoring and teaching French, and because of my degree, I am also available to tutor and teach History and Biology.
During my time as a student in Madrid, I had the opportunity to collaborate with the Museum of the Biology faculty of the University, where I had to do some guided visits as well as I have worked as a monitor in a camp promoting knowledge about Nature and Environment.

A "quadrilingual" talent

Written by Leonie W
Elena and I spent one year together as Language House Directors at Sewanee, The University of the South, in Tennessee, US. During this year, I got to know Elena not just as a very well-organized, structred and broadly interested person but also as a linguistic genius - her weekly Italian tutoring sessions did rarely stay "monolingual" but often turned into Spanish or even French language lessons. As I was a total Spanish beginner, Elena often helped me with my homework or with the preparation for my exams. Even though it's often difficult for native speakers to explain their own languge, Elena could answer every question I had in detail. One of the reasons why might be that she went to a French school in her hometown, Madrid, and therfore learned Spanish probably in a more precise and detailed way than a native speaker would have had. Having been taught this way, she is absolutely familiar with the grammatical structures and has the important ability to explain contents in a vivid and comprehensive way.
She managed to strengthen my interest in the Spanish language and will stay my role model and motivation for learning new languages - because she's the living proof that it's possible to be

Great Tutor

To whom it may concern,

My name is Katie Jannotta and I worked closely with Elena for one full year at my college in Tennessee. She is exceptional at engaging with people and helped me improve my Spanish language skills enormously. If I had to recommend a tutor for Spanish or Italian it would Elena. More informally and on many occasions she also tutored people in subjects such as biology, genetics etc. Hire Elena and she will be an asset to your team and your students will be much better for it. Please do let me know if I can give any further reference. Thank you very much.
Fluency in Spanish and insight into Spanish culture.
