About Dr Dyi
Hello,
My name is Dyi (‘Gee’). I received my PhD in Sociology (Ai) from a Russell Group University in North West England. I have worked at various universities in the UK. Currently I teach part-time at a Russell Group university in London and, having won a large research grant, I will soon take up a research position. I really enjoy working privately with students, but will do this now selectively.
I provide online academic support with essay, dissertation and thesis design and writing; critical analysis; qualitative methods; data collection, coding and analysis; and research design and research ethics. I also provide in-depth review of written work. I do *not* offer support with quantitative methods (e.g. SPSS, R); if it's about numbers, I'm afraid that I can't help you.
I specifically welcome students with learning difficulties, mental health and other disability related challenges.
When you contact me, please provide me with the following information:
* discipline/course
* module
* type of assignment
* deadline of submission
* what type of support you seek
NOTE: I hold a very strict 24hs cancellation policy. Before you book, make sure you read the 'Terms & Conditions' below. Once you have booked a slot, I assume you have read and agreed with my T&C. I also do not have a lot of time to message back and forth, so please consider beforehand whether you want to work with me.
BACKGROUND
I have over ten years of experience in academic teaching. I have supported hundreds of students (Foundation Year, BA, MA, ProfDoc/PhD) from various disciplines, such as sociology, criminology, political science, international relations, counselling (psychology), management, public health, social medicine, social work, anthropology, physiotherapy, nursing, speech therapy etc.
My research, publication and teaching specialisms are in the realm of the social sciences and include the following themes: gender, race, class, disability (incl mental health and neurodiversity), intersectionality, inequalities, power relations, migration, activism, social change, social movement studies, social theory, ethics, and a variety of academic skills and qualitative research methods.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
** Please do not book a slot already, but contact me first to discuss availability.
** I only work with adult students in Further and Higher Education (Foundation Year-PhD level). Unfortunately, I cannot support A-level or GCSE students.
** I cannot provide support with quantitative methods.
** I work through the online video platform Zoom, Wire, e-mail, or I can call you on your phone. I do not do house visits or meet elsewhere. The reason I have added in-person tuition is that students often do not realise the advantage of online sessions until suggested or tried.
** Because of this site policy, I can only provide you my personal details after you have booked a session. I do not provide my phone number.
** In case of the in-depth reviewing of documents, I charge 750wds/hr. We arrange these as if they were face-to-face sessions. I will provide detailed comments in the margin as well as general comments per e-mail. You will receive the document with comments per e-mail by the agreed time. If you like, we can discuss the comments and questions you might have in an additional face-to-face academic tuition session.
** IMPORTANT: The reason I can charge a relatively low fee is because I hold a strict cancellation policy: I have a 24hs cancellation policy for online and telephone tuition and conversation classes, where I charge 100% of the agreed fee. For the reviewing of documents, I also have a 24hs cancellation policy, but charge 50% of the agreed fee. My diary is very full with other academic commitments, so please make sure to book soon; your slot is only reserved once booked.

Perfect! Extremely helpful
Dr Dyi has superb qualitative experience and was professional, patient and thoughtful. Highly recommend.
Subject : Psychology
Outcome : Would use againPerfect! Dyi is beyond my expectations!
I contacted Dyi after a not-so-good year in uni, when I was actually thinking about dropping out. However I decided to finish my degree, and in order to do so I needed help.
I wish I contacted Dyi years ago. She has instilled back in me confidence and academic curiosity. Our lessons are informal, interesting and way too quick. She has lots of experience both academically and with tutorship, and I feel as if she really cares about me succeding in my degree. Thanks to her, I am actually thinking that doing a Phd wouldn’t be soo bad afterall.
I couldn’t wish for a better tutor, and I highly advice her to any student in need.

Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
Dieuwertje was very effective and methodical in helping me organise my thoughts and academic work. She has an ability to cut through chaos by asking precise and thought-provoking questions that both challenged me and also helped me arrive at my own conclusions. She is very well informed and extremely observant and articulate. She works in a very organised, consistent and reliable way and always engages with warmth, respect and encouragement.
