About Diana

Philosophy & Politics Tutor

I have a keen interest in Philosophy and Politics.

Achieving one of the highest grades in my A-Level Philosophy class motivated me to further immerse myself in advanced philosophical texts, such as "Leviathan" by Thomas Hobbes. Acquiring an understanding of philosophical frameworks during my A-Levels allowed me to continue being a high achiever during my undergraduate studies at King's College London, where I won the Best Overall Performance prize in both Year 1 and 2 of the Politics programme.

Teaching Philosophy excites me because it is a subject where I can also learn from my students and improve my knowledge of ideas which some may think have ceased to be relevant, but can, in fact, be revitalised.

Additionally, I aim to demonstrate to my students that politics permeates almost every sphere of the human world: in everyday life, there exists the presence of contention, the need to promote and sustain wellbeing, and so much more. Portraying Politics in this light isn't simply to reduce Politics to something insignificant and basic, but to demonstrate that politics can be be better understood and relatable once its fundamental dynamics are unveiled. This can allow students to approach the subject more easily.

My passion for both Philosophy and Politics reflects in my teaching techniques: I enjoy using thought experiments, open-ended discussions, and both historical and contemporary cases to highlight patterns of political behaviour. As someone with an equally keen passion for art, I enjoy creating posters and flashcards for revision, or encouraging my students to do so especially if they are strong visual learners. I also appreciate podcasts, which can be of great use when one's tired of reading long texts!

Alongside tutoring students in Philosophy and Politics, I also teach English (GCSE) and Sociology (A-Level). Additionally, I provide essay-writing guidance to students up to undergraduate level.

Her tuition helped me get into a Russell Group University!

Written by Mubin R
Diana is an exceptional tutor whom I cannot recommend enough. She explains complex ideas and themes in literature, ranging from the works of Shakespeare to Turgenev, in an understandable manner. Additionally, her enthusiasm and positivity when teaching has meant that her lessons lack any modicum of tediousness. Most importantly, her teaching style is largely interactive and allows for individual creativity and the fleshing out of original ideas.
Subject:
English Literature
Outcome:
An improvement from a C-grade at AS level Literature to an A-grade at A level.
