About Delia Roxana

Passionate and professional Mathematics Tutor

Hello everyone! I am Delia and I am studying Mathematics with Finance and Economics at City University of London. I will tell you my story in the following lines. Blame it on my Mathematics textbook writing grandmother that ever since my early childhood I have been fascinated by the mystery of numbers and their inextricable connection with the world we live in. Later on I found that these simple symbols could be put together in countless mesmerizing combinations, like the facts of life themselves. When I started school, Mathematics became instantly my favourite subject. I have taken part in as many Math contests as I possibly could in my country, gathering along the years a lot of prizes (more than 50) in Mathematics, Physics and Literature. I represented my county not only in the National Math Olympiad but also in the ones of Literature and Economy. In the National Olympiad of Economy I won the 10th place nationwide, this year. The most prestigious prizes I have won so far are the 3rd prize in two consecutive years at the International Mathematics Olympiad "Formula of Unity" hosted by St. Petersburg University, Russia and the numerous national ones. During the period of my intense training for the Economy National Olympiad which took place in April this year, I read some books on economy globalization (The Undercover Economist by Tim Harford, The Black Swan by Nassim Taleb). I understood that a lot of things I had learnt in the study of Mathematics, and the skills I had acquired all along, could successfully be applied, by analogy and extrapolation, to this dynamic field. Now, I realize that the economy is the starting point for any major global political decision, an ever changing system that sometimes makes its moves quite abruptly and it potentially affects the life of every one of us. That is why statistical prediction is crucial nowadays and an accurate prediction based on mathematical models can make the difference between soaring or plummeting economies, between random and robust financial decisions. It is therefore that I am absolutely sure that my passion for Mathematics and the interest I have acquired for the study of Economy and Finances combined, could become a successful career for a person like me. I would like to understand much better how Mathematics can be applied trans-disciplinarily to other fields such as economy, management and finance, to the top sciences and technology. As a yearly winner of the Math Gazette Contest, the most prestigious Math publication in my country, and my participation in the National Olympiad of Economy, I was offered a paid internship by the Romanian Commercial Bank, the biggest bank in Romania, this summer. Working for 45 days in such an important financial institution gave me the opportunity to see from the inside the way a bank functions. I have been the ambassador of my region for Leaders Foundation (Authentic Leadership Program). I performed a leadership training course for a number of 50 school children in my native town. This year I was elected president of the student organization in my high school and vice-president of high school students in my county, so I could put to use my leadership knowledge, organizing student extracurricular activities and charitable events, under the patronage of Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award. I am vice-president at Human Resources Division of the Romanian Students Global Confederation and was selected for the Performance in Romanian Education in 2015. This year I was also part of a 24-student and 2 teacher national winning team that participated in the Euroscola Contest with a paper on young people's unemployment issues in Europe. We won a trip to Strasbourg, France, in order to participate in the European Parliament debates. I love London and I will be so happy to tutor everyone.

A person who will make you love Maths.

Written by Tabita Abigail A
I have know Delia ever since we were young. She has always been passionated by Maths. She has an exceptional understanding of Maths and is a great tutor. In High School we were classmates, and since I was not so keen on Maths I was pretty worried about the final exams. I was at about 7 out of 10 points, hence she offered to help me. In just two months of studying with her I managed to get 10 out of 10 points at my final exams. She is a kind and friendly person, but most of all she knows Maths and she loves to teach others. She would make anyone love Maths.
With Delia's help I managed to get into University at the course I wanted, BA Architecture.

My name is Giliano-Nicolae Bazili and I am a MEng Aeronautical Engineering student at Imperial College London. I have known Ms Delia Ionete for more than 3 years since we participated together in many Mathematics-related contests, projects and even camps.
Delia comes from one of the most demanding academic environments in Europe, where she achieved top-class performances in all subjects (from Exact Sciences to Arts and even Literature), being the undisputed leader of her generation with greatest ease.
Throughout the years I have witnessed her astounding personal growth and development, being highly regarded by teachers and much beloved by all her peers.
Moreover, she has offered her help to anyone in need for it, succeeding to raise their understanding to a whole new level with calm and efficiency.
Despite all these qualities, she is modest, and careful not to disturb anyone.
Hence, I cannot but recommend her like one of the best tutors and persons I have met and I am sure that she will verify all the afore mentioned with her vast experience not only in Mathematics, but also in people.
Change and Progress with a lovely and graceful tutor
