I have a passion for English and the creativity of words.
As an academic I have experienced and very much enjoyed university life and learning. I have used my knowledge within various schools as an Assistant Teacher and tutor, and also as a teacher for International Homestay students teaching English and History. I have worked across all key stages and within the S.E.N departments supporting dyslexic and autistic students.
I thrive on seeing students progress through personal adaptive methods suited for each individual. I aim to be inspirational, motivational and certainly professional.
Dawn supported me and helped me achieve my English G.c.s.e as I had much time out of school due to illness. Her patience, knowledge and caring attitude made me believe I could reach my target with confidence. I would recommend her to anyone who needs help with their English.
I was struggling as a 6th former with William Faulkner's 'Sound & The Fury' for my English Literature 'A' Level and had more or less given up on it. Miss Berry volunteered to help me understand it by breaking it down to focus on the question in detail. We spent most lunchtimes and some after school time going over it. I can't thank her enough for her input and as a result passed my exam.
I loved having a tutor like Miss Berry to make things so much simpler to understand. As part of a small group we had to have extra support for our exams. The subject of history was hard for me as it is so vast although I enjoyed the topics. I tended to lose focus on the question and not write down the right information. Miss Berry set everything out using simple instructions. She made me evaluate pictures in the question and relate everything to it. By remembering her bullet points and funny associations to help my memory I got through it.
I miss her humour!
