Mentor for Maths & Physics

I am a full time Personal Tutor and graduate with a 1st class Batchelor's degree in Physics from King's College London, and soon to begin my teacher training course at Oxford University. With over 400 hours of private tuition in science and maths, and over 50 hours experience working in schools since 2014, I have the academic knowledge and practical skills needed to help students succeed in school.

My career in education involved work as a Career Coach at Oasis Academy, Waterloo for Future Frontiers, a social enterprise related to Teach First in the summer of 2015. Furthermore, I have spent several months working as a physics teacher’s assistant at William Ellis School, Hampstead during my undergraduate studies, which gave me a more greater perspective of the educational system and a chance to refine my communication skills to as many people as possible. My passion for education inspired me to author an ebook entitled “Success in Sixth Form”, which lays out powerful strategies to transition smoothly from GCSE to A-level studies, and is free for all my students.

Throughout my career as a tutor, I have developed and fostered a strong capacity for empathy, patience and good communication skills - all of which are vital for helping me understand the students more and hence, deliver a better service. Thus, I have tutored students of various abilities, all the way from primary school to their final years in sixth form. I specialise in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and also offer personalised guidance for university applications.

As modern education becomes more demanding and competitive, the need for personalised tuition becomes more necessary, and my mission is to tutor those who are in need of an academic boost. I speak not only from the standpoint of an educator, but also from the standpoint of a student, as I have gained much understanding of what it takes to succeed in school through personal experience.

To elaborate, I achieved 6 A*’s and 5 A’s in my GCSE’s, including A*’s in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and a trophy for the best GCSE grades in my year. My A-levels include Physics (A*), Maths (A*), Chemistry (A*) and Biology AS (A). Furthermore, I have attained a scholarship at King’s College London for academic excellence in my second year of university. That said, good grades alone are not enough to satisfy every dimension of tutoring, which also requires thorough knowledge of exam technique, as well as strong communicational and interpersonal skills, all of which I have developed over time as a private tutor.

Beyond tuition, my other interests include gymnastics, organic gardening, art and mountaineering.

What I offer:
- Bespoke one-to-one tuition
- Group study sessions (up to 5 students)
- Personalised revision strategies
- Guidance with university applications
- My ebook, "Success in Sixth Form"

David S

David is an excellent tutor who is very reliable, always on time and has an excellent rappore with my children. He has tutored them both for 18 months. My eldest son has just competed his GCSE's and was struggling with maths and science when David took over as his tutor. He has just achieved a b in maths and a b in physics and chemistry. He continues to work with my younger son who is now preparing for his GCSE's. David is alway prepared and I would have no problem recommending him in any tutoring role.

First lesson

David is a very kind and patient teacher who can connect with my son incredibly well and that has been evident already in the first lesson. My son really enjoyed the lesson and we are very confident that David will give our son the guidance and confidence boost to succeed in maths and have fun at the same time. Thank you David!

Outstanding!

I started tuition with David at the begining of my final gcse year (year 11), I was having some issues in maths and I needed that reasurrance that school cannot always give. David really did help me and was always open to re-explanations if I was to not understand a topic or question. Both my maths and science grades have significantly improved without a doubt, this isn't only my opinion but is also shown on paper. David was always prepared for our lessons, if there was a day where he was unaware of what I wanted to do he would get in touch with me at least a day before the lesson to be able to prepare for it.

Great confidence in both maths and science
