About David

Experienced business studies & entrepreneurship tutor.

Throughout my time in education I have developed an inquisitive mind in the learning process with the ability of working well with others. Disseminating knowledge in a way that engages and aspires is important and in helping learners build on their skills. I have researched and explored a variety of teaching methods including embedding technology into lessons to help develop and expand on a range of learning styles.
I have a good knowledge of IGCSE, city and guilds, BTEC, A'level qualifications and degree level subjects and their assessment standards.
I have been through extensive ofsted inspection training and I have consistently been graded as good and outstanding in lesson observations and ensure all my learners have good employability skills and grasp of industry.
With a passion for the transfer of knowledge which has been broadened by my travels to Europe and America over the summers 2012 and again in 2014. The skills learnt including meeting with industry leaders and discussing the use of technology and their research and development has equipped me to be engaging in my approach to study and communication.
I have a particular passion and interest in marketing and have worked with companies allowing learners to engage with these employers. I have delivered workshops on how to write and present a business plan and how to communicate an elevator pitch.
Over the summer of 2014, I took part in a study tour in Washington DC with a group of students. Learning and engaging with activities, about media and journalism with the leadership institute and George Washington University.
As course tutor and manager, I have been responsible for ensuring schemes of work are correct and up to date, student portfolios are complete and ready for internal and external verification. I have been trained in curriculum development, following and understanding awarding bodies' criteria and developing programmes of study for the academic year. These roles have helped me develop professionally within highly pressurised and demanding environments, attending standardisation meetings, preparing for lesson observations, ensuring all practical lessons and assessments are ready for students and staff and to help me plan for the busy periods of the academic year.
My formal training, my teaching experience and the roles I have had in industry including as an assistant manager for a retail centre have equipped me with high level skills of communication, team work and management of difficult situations.
I have recently refreshed my CPD and training, attending workshops on safeguarding, prevent and the embedding of technology and IT to aid learning and assessment.
