An industry-based teacher that is rated "Good" by Ofsted
I am a very flexible Teacher/Tutor/Assessor/Invigilator who can work on many subjects from Primary, Secondary, GCSE and some A level, Functional Skills and Work-Based Learning.
Specialising originally in ICT/English/Business. I offer personally-tailored work that will engage the struggling/disaffected student[s]. on a short-term/temporary basis teaching large [6 students] or small groups, 2 or 3 or on a 1:1. My previous work included working with looked-after students and teaching adults in English.
I have been in teaching for some 25 years covering a variety of subjects in many local schools. I have also taught in two Pupil Referral Units and students' with special educational needs.
Wherever possible I try to use the computer to send, mark and receive work - finding this especially useful for students who often "don't know where to start".
My overall approach is one of active involvement, discussion and using a variety of approaches including, where appropriate, a voice recorder or video for older student assessment.
I am married with six grown up children and have shared their learning ups and downs either in the workplace or university. My hourly rate is £25 but flexible for additional students and number of hours requested.
I know that David Fox teaches a variety of subjects and he was very helpful with both my son with IT instruction and my nephew whose needs were more complicated. He is a very experienced and patient man displaying calmness even in stressful situations. His lessons are planned around the student and his/her interests to deliver in a way that motivates ,engages and stimulates. He is friendly, polite and with a sense of humour , a very good listener and also kind. He always sees the good in people and I think he has a very good rapport with students.
