About Daniel
I am a full time GMAT and Oxbridge admissions tutor, having graduated from Cambridge in 2017 with a 1st Class degree in Maths and Physics. I scored 790 on the GMAT first time by applying an algorithmic method to make questions easy, which is what I pass on to my students. Even the hardest questions don't seem so bad if you have a checklist of steps to follow in order to solve them each time! I have enjoyed great success in both taking and teaching admissions tests and I hope you allow me to help you out!
My speciality is in helping students achieve the highest scores, and I have been able to ensure that any student who is willing to put in the time and effort is able to end up with a score in the high 700s.

I was able to achieve 790 first time on the GMAT through application of the methodology I have applied to other exams in the past, with great success. This methodology essentially focuses on breaking down every question and learning the easiest and most efficient ways to solve problems, and becoming adept at applying those methods repeatedly. In terms of the GMAT, this meant analysing each question type and coming up with a toolbox for each type of question. The items within the toolbox for each type of question are then ranked in order of efficiency and ease of use in order to ensure each question is not just solvable, but solvable as quickly as possible, by using the tools in order of importance until the question is complete. By approaching the exam in this way I find that students find even seemingly difficult questions become more manageable as they turn into a more algorithmic exercise, with a clear plan and checklist on how to approach each type of question as soon as it comes up

Perfect! Dan and I worked through his for tackling GMAT questions, both Quant and Verbal. He has provided me with robust tutoring has been able to provide me with specific feedback and play by plays on how to tackle some of the more challenging questions I come across. I would recommend Dan to anyone who is attempting to crack a top score on the GMAT.
Perfect! Very concise and easy to understand methods. Focused on the Verbal side of the Gmat since that was my weakest area and in the space of 3 weeks I managed a 110 point improvement! Would highly recommend - me achieving a 720 score was down to his teaching style and exam strategies.
Thanks Dan!!Perfect! I am using daniel to help prepare me for the GMAT Quantitative exam. He is extremely knowledgable about both the exams and mathematics. Daniel has taught me lots of tips and tricks to help me excel in the GMAT exam. I highly recommend him!

My son has been seeing Daniel since last year, prior to his Cambridge Mathematics interviews. From the start my son was very impressed with his ability & teaching style, and my son found his advice invaluable in preparing for and undertaking the interviews. He was very knowledgeable about the process and went into detail on how to best collaborate with the interviewers in order to solve questions and what exactly they are looking for. He also helped to guide him through a wide range of mock interview questions and showed a variety of tips and tricks he had picked up over his years of experience with such questions. My son detailed that the first week working with Daniel was his sharpest learning curve to date, and that Daniel was very clear throughout that he felt certain my son was a strong candidate who had the capability to succeed, which helped to develop the confidence needed for the process.
My son was subsequently successful at interview, a result he was thrilled with, and received an offer to study Mathematics, contingent on attaining the required grades in two exams at the end of June, called STEP. Since receiving the offer, my son has been working extremely hard towards these exams, which are notoriously exceptionally difficult. Throughout this, Daniel has been working with my son to guide him through the process, emphasising the thought process required to tackle questions and how to come up with solutions, rather than simply showing solutions. Trying to find someone to assist with STEP is difficult, as the questions are of a difficulty level that many teachers and tutors are simply not prepared for. However, Daniel’s ability to solve questions is extremely impressive and clearly quite rare; there are few people that are able to comfortably tackle STEP questions, and even fewer that are able to pass on the knowledge to a tutee. There are no areas of weakness my son has seen so far, and every question he has been asked he has been able to answer with confidence and can further explain the concept and how to apply it.
As Daniel has himself been through the Cambridge admissions process relatively recently, and also placed a lot of pressure on himself at the time, he has very much been able to relate to the stress that my son is going through, and has made a point to explain just how difficult he found it at the time. He has emphasised that my son has the ability, and the only difference is experience, which has helped to reassure him against the backdrop of such difficult exams. My son and I feel he genuinely cares about the success of any tutee and that he lives part of the admissions process with them.
Early on, my son remarked that Daniel was very different to what he had pictured a Maths tutor to be; he has found him easy to talk to, charismatic and found they had a shared interest in high level sporting pursuits. This was great as Alex himself is a high-level sportsman, meaning he could relate to and give advice regarding how to best juggle studies and academics, without compromising either or risking burnout.
Daniel is always approachable and flexible and never gives off the impression that you don’t have 100% of his attention. Finally, my son would like to say that his love of maths really shines through, he enjoys teaching others and tries to inspire them to be the best they possibly can.Daniel is an excellent tutor, who has an unparalleled knowledge of the subject. He helped my son gain confidence and was instrumental with his success in these summers exams. I highly recommend him.
Dr ButtarDaniel taught me Physics and Maths A-level. He's a great tutor who is very fun and friendly & clearly enjoys tutoring. I have benefited so much from his teaching and would definitely recommend him! Absolutely brought my grades up in both subjects and gave me a lot more confidence going into the exams!
I can't recommend Daniel highly enough. I have had several tutors over the years but he was without a doubt the best. He has an ability to break things down in such an easy to understand way, and taught me how to approach problems which I wasn't sure how to tackle.
He clearly has a fantastic level of understanding in Maths and as a result has a load of tricks and special ways of doing the different A-level questions that made them far easier.
Definitely helped me to achieve the A i needed for university!
