About Daisy
I am a recent graduate from the University of Oxford where I earned a first class degree in Psychology, Philosophy and Linguistics, ranking second overall in my cohort and earning a departmental award for best performance in final linguistics exams. Before that, I attended a state comprehensive school and sixth form in North Somerset, where I achieved the joint-highest A-level grades in my year. Since graduating I have relocated to Bristol, where I am employed part time at a maths and English tuition centre as well as working as a freelance private tutor.
I don’t believe in a one size fits all approach to tutoring. In my first session with any tutee I will devote time to discussing your goals, challenges, and preferred ways of working; my aim is to support you in your chosen academic path, not to push you down a narrowly prescribed one. I know from personal experience that the best results come when students are motivated and engaged, so I always do my best to maintain a positive atmosphere and let your passions and interests drive the direction of my tuition. Above all, I aim to get to know my students as individuals to enable me to best support them in reaching their distinctive academic and personal goals.
I am happy to tutor a wide range of subjects and ages from primary to A-level, but am most experienced in tutoring English, Philosophy and other humanities subjects. Writing has always been one of my strengths - I received an A* for my EPQ in sixth form, and a strong first class mark for my 15,000 word undergraduate thesis - and I am very happy to offer general essay writing support, proofreading and editing up to undergraduate level.
In addition to tutoring, I have substantial experience supporting and mentoring applicants to Oxbridge and other top universities and received a university-wide award for my commitment to outreach and admissions while at Oxford. I’d be delighted to help with personal statements, interviews, and constructing a competitive application. I am also able to support preparation for two Oxford admissions tests: the Thinking Skills Assessment and the Linguistics Aptitude Test, both of which I successfully sat myself when applying.
If you would be interested in any services not mentioned above or want to enquire further about my work, please do not hesitate to get in touch! I look forward to hearing from you. :)

Daisy has provided support for our potential Oxbridge students over the last two years. Her feedback has always been constructive, detailed and very helpful. The students' personal statements have been significantly improved as a result.
Daisy was a student ambassador at Balliol. She gave up her time to meet groups of students from state schools who visited the college. She talked to them about her life as an undergraduate and provided information about the application process. Daisy was very good at helping these students feel at ease and reassuring them that they would fit in. Daisy also supported applicants from state schools with writing UCAS applications and she also gave up her time on university open days to represent the college. Daisy is committed to this work and is able to quickly build a rapport with young people by being honest about challenges and explaining how she overcame her challenges and by outlining resources available to help others. She would be highly effective working with young people in this tutoring role.
