About Conor
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching privately for 10+ years. During this time I have the knowledge in how to tailor a lesson plan to a particular student. People progress and learn in a variety of ways and I aim to make each lesson accessible and understandable to each individual.
I have worked in the Education Authority in Northern Ireland as a visiting tutor where I prepared a number of students for graded exams and music festivals.
I am an annual visiting tutor to the Father McNally Summer School in Dundalk, tutoring some of the finest young talent in Ireland in preparation for concerts and competitions.
I am an experienced performer which I believe enhances my teaching ability. I have worked with professional orchestras in Ireland and the UK. I am also an experienced session violinist and have performed with numerous pop acts such as Niall Horan, Lewis Capaldi and Maren Morris.

Yes - Certified by the Education Authority Northern Ireland (2019)
- Where and with whom did you train?
I studied my undergraduate degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama starting with Detlef Hahn before moving to Krzysztof Smietana in my second year.

I tutor Violin and Viola and have 10+ years teaching experience. I am passionate about providing a high standard of teaching so the student can gain the numerous benefits and rewards provided through music. I aim to do this in an enjoyable and hard working environment.
During my time at the Guildhall I took on the elective of violin pedological techniques with Professor Evan Rothstein. We researched and tested many different schools of violin teaching ranging from the traditional master>pupil, to more modern conceptions of a teacher student relationship. We explored how to tailor to each individual student’s learning capabilities.
We analysed different methods of technical teaching ranging from traditional methods such as the Galamian and the Russian School of violin. We also analysed modern teaching schools such as the Suzuki and the Rolland methods. This detailed research allowed me to tailor my own teaching philosophy, using trusted techniques from a wide range of celebrated violin schools and teaching methodologies. I obtained a distinction in this elective.
I have developed my own online teaching resource covering technique for beginner, intermediate and advanced which all students will be given access to.
