About Civan
IB Physics Examiner/Physics Tutor / Maths Tutor / Private Tuition / Physics Teacher
I have been teaching Physics more than 20 years. I know the tips and tricks to get higher grades, because I am an Examiner as well.
Experience makes the difference in Physics and Maths tuition!
Besides GCSE, I also provide IB DP SL/HL Physics more than 15 years.
In private tuition, I establish student's interest and focus to science and maths by developing curiosity. I believe private tuition is more than just teaching the subject. I encourage my students to be successful by drawing their attention to the topic. Eventually, they feel motivated to learn and study.
Different students require different approaches to learn and succeed. I have been coaching my students to achieve the best for 20 years. It’s critical to adapt the teaching method to the individual student.

My daughter has been getting maths, physics and chemistry lessons for the last 2 years from Civan. He has been a great teacher that motivated her to do the best and a lifesaver for us. My daughter so far got 9s from each of these lessons’ gcse mock exams. Thanks to his contributions to his success
Civan has been my tutor for 4 years, helping me achieve a 9 in GCSE Physics, 8 in GCSE Maths and an 8 in GCSE Further Maths and predicted A in both A Level maths and physics. He is very helpful and organised as well as flexible. He is brilliant at explaining difficult concepts by explaining them visually and knows how to get you to apply your knowledge to exam questions. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is either struggling or aspiring to achieve the top grades.
Civan is an excellent tutor. He develops good communication with the students and motivates them. He is capable to engage with students understanding their different needs and adapt his teaching skills regarding the student's learning pattern. I think he developed this valuable skill by years of experience. Besides, he focuses entirely on the student during the lessons.
I am pleased to recommend Kaya for teaching physics at this site. I have known Kaya for eleven years. We have taught to same level for many times, and coordinated in the IB HL physics programme. In the year 2007, he was applying for the physics teacher position in our school American Collegiate Institute (ACI). It was my 6th year at ACI. Having a new colleague at the physics room after 5 years was a change for all of us. But we and my other colleagues still have the same thought: how lucky we are that he applied for that position in our school.
Physics is one of the hardest courses for students. The first thing that comes to their mind is equations with many Greek letters. But the most forgotten part for the students and also for the teachers who are running to catch up with the heavily loaded curriculum; the beauty of physics is the experimentation. I, myself preferred to study theoretical physics in the university since I hate to write the lab reports. Experimentation has never been my strength, neither as a student nor as a teacher. At 2007 we were new to the IB programme, in which the students are being evaluated over their lab performances. We were buying new materials for our lab, and I had no idea about the data loggers at those times. I can never be thankful enough to Kaya first for choosing the materials to purchase and then teaching me to how to use them. Even this year, when I was teaching my 10th grade students the combinations of resistors and cells, the parts of an electric circuit; I was thanking to him out loud in my mind for encouraging me to use experimentation during the lesson. 2 periods of teaching load was done in 30 minutes.
Kaya is the founder and the sponsor teacher of FLL, Lego club in our school. Before him, Legos were just building blocks that we used to play in our childhood. Two years ago the topic was the “animal allies”. Since I have been leading the Animal Shelter Club for more than 7 years, he asked me to be a partner for that year. I was thinking that they were just making robots and completing the tasks given to them with the robots. When I saw what they have been doing, I felt sorry that I did not ask him to be partners in the club in the previous years. It was not just about robots. Kids were doing wonderful things and Kaya was leading them all the way. I felt very proud to have him as my colleague when I learnt that Kaya is the only coach who has been doing this from the first day since the beginning of FLL in Turkey, that is for 14 years now. By the way, we had the ticket to UK on June 21-24, 2017. Last year was the only year that he did not attend to FLL since he and his students were getting ready for FRC.Mr. Duman is a very strong teacher. He generally has good relationships with the students that he taught. He always enters the class with preparetion. He has different sets of materials in his folder for the students in the classroom. The worksheets that he prepares for the students are always in high quality.
He always supports the students' interest through Physics.
Mr. Duman also has good relationships with the parents. He continously inform the parents about their students' progress about Physics.
He is a very strong team member. He shares the knowledge he has with other teachers. He also communicate with other subject teachers in order to follow up students' development in different areas. Since he is an experienced IB teacher; he knows the standarts of IB system. He applies all assessment rules and processes of IB. You can trust him about his judgements and evaluations.
He is very good at robotics. He has lots of experience in FLL and FRC tournaments around the World.
He is very capable to create different local or international projects.View more recommendations
