If you are looking for a tutor who will inspire and motivate your children to excellence and confidence then look no further.
My tutoring style is grounded in developing rapport with students, and discovering ways to engage them emotionally and intellectually with their subject.
My tutorials are characterised by patience, a rich and encouraging environment and challenges set within a framework of hopeful expectation – I have found is a recipe for effective learning to be creatively realised.
I specialise in English Literature studies from GCSE to A-Level. A poet and writer myself, poetry and prose recital feature in my tutoring prominently. As does reading written work aloud between student and tutor. Timed writing assignments and practical exercises are laid in around a foundation of textual analysis, discussion and comprehension.
These techniques build academic and social confidence and give students the means to emotionally connect with their work. A vital skill for engaging themselves and persuading others.
I consider it an honour to serve as a tutor. And I am confident that you will be pleased with the progress in confidence, energy and excellence that we will make together.

Perfect! Christie has tutored by daughter for a 2 years, she has struggled with dyslexia and her confidence. Christie has built her confidence up and has been really positive. He has provided great feedback of my daughter progress. Overall my daughter speaks very highly of his teaching methods and wishes he taught in her school.
A fantastic tutor, that we would highly recommend.Perfect! Wonderful mentor
Christie has tutored me for a few years, and he has helped me with my school studies as well as my reading and creative writing. I have always felt that he understands exactly what advice or guidance I need before I know it myself, and in that way he has been more of a mentor than just a tutor. With essays and the texts we have read, such as Dante’s Inferno or Donne’s poetry, he encourages me to think independently to develop my own skills of analysis rather than just handing me the information. His lessons, which are fun and interesting, have enriched my own understanding of literature and deepened my passion for it. He is a valuable and special tutor for anyone who needs support with school work or wants to extend their studies of literature.
Subject : English Literature
Outcome : incredible improvement in writing and analytical skillsPerfect! inspiring tutor
We have been incredibly lucky to have found Christie. He has been inspirational for both my children. My son has a renewed passion for reading classics and his understanding and appreciation for literature has gained new depths with Christie. He is not only a tutor but a mentor and encouraging values outside of education. My son immediately bonded with Christie and requested more lessons after the initial one. As for my daughter, Christie is guiding her creative writing and she mentions how his methods are helping her improve her writing in ways she had not developed before. Christie's skills are unique and I cannot emphasize how talented he is as a tutor and how much he cares about his students development.
Subject : English Literature
Outcome : still ongoing but huge improvementsPerfect! Great personality; a believer in students' success!
We are thankful for the help that we have received so far, from Christie, as he is always willing to assist and always looks forward to helping our 16-yr-old with his studies.
He is highly motivated, committed and transparent in whatever he does; always encouraging our son to excel and to utilize his time wisely. D says that Christie is “…. very motivational and helps me with mental barriers, when I am facing obstacles, with his techniques and expertise about how the brains works. He implements this in helping his tutees”.
Christie is still continuing to tutor our son and we appreciate his skills, expertise, experience and zeal for teaching!
We wish Christie all the best with his current and future endeavours, reaching out to as many students as possible and to continue to do an excellent job always!

Christie is a keen enthusiastic teacher. He genuinely takes interest in his students’ learning and development. He inspires his students. He prepares for his sessions. He is just an amazing teacher
Christie came on the scene when my son had 7000 words to go of his 8000 ( min) word dissertation, and only 4 weeks left to do it in ( little of the background research completed either!).
First and foremost, he talked a lot of sense into him about not wanting to look back on this part of his life with regret, that he didn’t ‘give his all’, and secondly, he motivated him by breaking frown the daunting task into bite-sized pieces that could be tackled, with daily mutually agreed goals.
My son is not the easiest person to motivate and academia was probably not the right path for him, but he was a long way down the road and it would have been foolish to fall at the last hurdle..
He got the work in on time and managed to produce 13,000 words - and for someone with a reading/writing disability, this was a tremendous feat.
I was delighted with the relationship Christie developed with him to get him motivated and keep him on task. Although his subject was English, being a sportsman himself, and a graduate of English and a generally responsible, thinking, all-round person, I think he would be able to turn his hand to any subject and assist someone who’s struggling with the mechanics of organisations, application and finding motivation.
I would recommend him to anyone with a son similar to mine - and to those with dissilmilar children too!Christie came on the scene when my son had 7000 words to go of his 8000 ( min) word dissertation, and only 4 weeks left to do it in ( little of the background research completed either!).

I would recommend him to anyone with a son similar to mine - and to those with dissilmilar children too! With Mia, Christie is able to meet her at her current level and engage with her on her passion for Classical myths and Gods. He assists her with her maths and has helped her gain confidence in her school work across the board. Her grades have been excellent after her tuition with Christie, she’s often very relaxed and a little bundle of light. I’m very grateful to Christie for his presence, flexibility and incredible general knowledge. Brilliant!

Christie is Ava’s Uncle, and he has been giving time to tutor her and her sisters, Mia and Maddison during the COVID-19 quarantine. As a parent, I’m always concerned the girls aren’t fully engaged with their academic work, and even more concerned that their emotional and personal development is being neglected. Since Christie began the tuitions with the girls this fear has been entirely relieved. He works with Ava to help her understand the subject in a way that leaves her motivated, confident and relaxed.
Christie has now been tutoring my daughter for a while. She has always loved literature and writing intermittently. She has talked of how Christie's influence has been profound. The discussions she has on literature are beyond what she is able to engage in with teachers and has deepened her passion for literature. He has encouraged reflection and widened her perspective not only on literature but outside of that as well. He has been able to move her to see past her writer's block and revived her previously faltering opinion of herself as a writer. She is able to talk to him about her insecurities and yet has increased in self esteem through his thoughtful support. She would not be in the place where she is now without his mentoring. Christie understands what the students need and takes into their emotional environment and other influences to help them develop not only academically but as people. He goes beyond any tutor I know in terms of the thought he puts into his lessons and the detailed feedback he gives parents for each lesson. You would be incredibly lucky to have Christie as a tutor!
Christie is an extremely likeable individual who your children will find it easy to bond with and respect. He has gifts of empathy which many tutors lack; he is intellectually gifted, and will be highly motivated towards your children's success. There is no easy way to say this, but he is not a nerd. He is someone your children will be able to relate to, whose success they may want to emulate. His specialism is English, but I'm sure his patience and skill will make him adept at teaching and assisting at any subject like maths or the sciences. Anything that requires diligence, patience, attention to detail, mixed with a bit of passion will be perfect.
If you are looking for a tutor who will inspire and motivate your children to excellence and confidence then look no further.Christie was my student for A Level Classical Civilisation and History. He is intelligent, imaginative and original and would, I am sure, fulfill his personal statement. Happy to recommend him.
