Chris has been teaching me Grade 1 piano at my home since January 2015.
I've progressed faster than I expected to, and certainly much faster than I did with my previous piano teacher. Whereas previously I spent a lot of time working from a book and doing dry scales, Chris mixes the lessons up and his approach is more holistic, which I prefer.
We spend some time going over music theory, and occasionally some music history. Chris also pays attention to the sorts of music that I find interesting and enjoy. Chris gives me a number of piano pieces to listen to as homework, and I really enjoy this part of homework.
I think Chris' great strength is being able to recognise any difficulties I am struggling with at a really early stage and address them with simple exercises or explanations. This means that I never remain stuck on the same thing for too long, and that I'm able to learn and progress faster.
Chris is flexible with days and timings, and is happy to accommodate my working hours. He is trustworthy, punctual, cheerful, and up for a chat about anything. I would highly recommend Chris to anyone wanting piano lessons, at any level.
